The Isle of Giants in World of Warcraft (WoW) has been a renowned location for players seeking coveted mounts. While farming these mounts has become more accessible over the years, it still requires dedication and a bit of luck. Whether you’re venturing into the Retail servers or gearing up for upcoming content on the Mists of Pandaria Classic, this guide serves as your companion for mastering the Isle of Giants.
The Journey to the Isle of Giants
For those unfamiliar with the Isle of Giants, your adventure begins in Pandaria. You can fast-track your journey using a Mage portal or by heading to the Portal Room in either Stormwind or Orgrimmar. Once in Pandaria, choose one of the following routes to reach the island:
- Take a flight path to Zouchin Village located in the Kun-Lai Summit.
- Fly directly from The Jade Forest to Kun-Lai Summit on your mount.

After reaching Zouchin Village, fly north, and the Isle of Giants will soon come into view. However, be prepared to be dismounted shortly before you reach the island, as flying is not allowed here. If you have a mount equipped with Anglers’ Water Striders or a fishing raft, you can sail directly to your destination.
Upon arrival, be sure to secure the flight path available on the southern end of the island for both Horde and Alliance players. This will make your future visits far more convenient.
Mount Farming at the Isle of Giants
While you may be wondering why you should return to this remote isle, there are significant mounts worth pursuing. One of the standout choices is the Reins of the Bone-White Primal Raptor. To obtain this mount, you will need to collect 9,999 Giant Dinosaur Bones and trade them with Ku’ma at coordinates (32.6, 54.6)
.

Another opportunity lies in farming the Primal Egg, which can drop from various dinosaurs inhabiting the island. This egg will reward you after a wait of three real-world days with any of the following mounts:
- Reins of the Black Primal Raptor
- Reins of the Green Primal Raptor
- Reins of the Red Primal Raptor
The Primal Egg has various drop rates depending on the creature defeated:
- Primal Devilsaur: 5% chance
- Primal Direhorn: 2-3% chance
- Pterrorwing Skyscreamer: 1.4% chance
- Young Primal Devilsaur: 1% chance
- Primal Direhorn Hatchling: 0.5% chance
Lastly, you can challenge the formidable world boss Oondasta. Although the drop rate for the Reins of the Cobalt Primordial Direhorn is relatively low, it’s worth the effort for those passionate about collecting unique mounts. Personally, while I’ve yet to see this mount drop, the possibility remains. Best of luck on your farming expedition!
