Will Atomfall Be Released on Nintendo Switch?

Fans of interactive gaming may be curious about the forthcoming title, Atomfall, from Rebellion, the studio renowned for the Sniper Elite franchise. Scheduled for release on March 27, 2025, the game immerses players in a post-apocalyptic version of Britain, five years following the catastrophic Windscale Nuclear Disaster.

This highly anticipated title will debut on five major gaming platforms:

  • PlayStation 5
  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Xbox One
  • PC (available through Rebellion Store, Epic Games Store, or Steam)

Regrettably, Rebellion has officially confirmed that Atomfall will not be released on the Nintendo Switch, stating:

“There are currently no plans to release Atomfall® on Nintendo Switch.”

Reasons for Excluding the Switch

The Atomfall project showcases advanced graphic technology, posing significant compatibility challenges for the older hardware of the Nintendo Switch. Rebellion’s history with graphically intensive games—like Sniper Elite—highlights this limitation, with the last title they launched on Switch being Sniper Elite 4 back in 2017.

Nonetheless, the situation may evolve with the anticipated release of the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, which is expected to enhance the console capabilities dramatically. This might pave the way for a potential future port, although no assurances can be made just yet.

Additionally, there remains uncertainty regarding a potential port for the Steam Deck, Valve’s handheld gaming device.
