In a shocking incident in Los Angeles, Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police while they were engaged in a pursuit of suspects involved in a hit-and-run accident. The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed this troubling event that took place on Tuesday.
According to LAPD reports, officers arrived at the scene to aid the California Highway Patrol in their quest to apprehend three individuals connected to a hit-and-run in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. Authorities were attempting to establish a perimeter in the vicinity, as the suspects fled into a residential area near the intersection of the 134 Freeway and Figueroa Street.
During their search, officers encountered Jillian Shriner outside her home. They reported observing her wielding a handgun. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, she allegedly pointed it at the officers, prompting them to discharge their weapons. Shriner retreated to her residence but later emerged and was subsequently taken into custody.
Following the incident, the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported Shriner to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening. Importantly, police confirmed that she had no connection to the hit-and-run case. Subsequently, she was booked for attempted murder.
Fortunately, no police officers were injured in this confrontation. In the meantime, the search for the hit-and-run suspects continues; one has been apprehended by the Highway Patrol while two others remain at large.
On another note, Weezer, featuring members Rivers Cuomo, Scott Shriner, Patrick Wilson, and Brian Bell, is set to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this Saturday. This performance comes as a surprise addition following the withdrawal of other artists, including FKA Twigs and Anitta, from the lineup.
