Warzone Players Solve Area 99 Easter Egg Challenge in Call of Duty

Overview of the Area 99 Easter Egg Completion

  • Players have successfully uncovered the Area 99 Easter egg in Call of Duty: Warzone.
  • This hidden feature remained unnoticed for over four months.
  • Area 99 will be phased out with the launch of Season 3 on April 3, 2024.

As the deadline approaches for the removal of Area 99 from Call of Duty: Warzone, a team of dedicated players has unveiled an Easter egg that had eluded discovery for months. With the recent announcement of Season 3 from publisher Activision, whispers about this concealed feature on the game’s Resurgence map circulated, prompting community interest. Shortly thereafter, a player group cracked the code and shared their findings, guiding others on how to experience the Area 99 Easter egg.

Season 3 Will Transform Call of Duty: Warzone

The upcoming Season 3 is poised to be the most significant update for Call of Duty: Warzone thus far, heralding the return of the beloved Verdansk map. This update promises an infusion of classic Modern Warfare weapons, various quality-of-life enhancements, and much more. However, with these exciting developments on the horizon comes a necessary period of server downtime: Warzone’s servers will be inactive for 24 hours as preparations for the return of Verdansk unfold. This will leave players unable to access the game from April 2 until April 3, 2024.

In a recent update, Activision confirmed the temporary removal of both Urzikstan and Area 99 to pave the way for Verdansk’s much-anticipated comeback. Area 99, introduced last November, hid an Easter egg that went unnoticed until players swiftly figured it out after the announcement. Twitch streamer Dawg130 and his team completed the challenge—creating a spectacle by using the mechanics involving shooting mannequin heads, collecting two keycards, and initiating nuclear strikes at the map’s edges. Although this grand finale doesn’t conclude the match, it visually impresses players.

  • Shoot the heads of all mannequins at the Mannequin Assembly Point of Interest (POI).
  • Collect two keycards from the Reactor POI, which requires teamwork from at least two players.
  • Interact with the terminal located in the Bunker POI to activate the nukes—this step also needs two players.

As fans of Call of Duty prepare to bid farewell to Area 99, excitement builds for the unfolding changes. On April 3, along with the launch of Season 3, the iconic map Verdansk will return, ready to host 150-player lobbies. Reimagined by Beenox Studios, Verdansk preserves the essence of its original release in 2020 while integrating significant enhancements. These updates include improved visuals and strategic adjustments, offering enhanced cover for players navigating the expansive battlefield.

Season 3 also welcomes back some legendary Modern Warfare weapons like the HDR Sniper Rifle, CR-56 AMAX, Kilo 141, and Grau 5.56. While many of these firearms will be available through the Season 3 Battle Pass, players can unlock the Kilo 141 at no charge simply by logging in during the server downtime. Also noteworthy is that the Grau 5.56 will function as a conversion kit for the Swat 5.56 rather than being a standalone weapon.
