In The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, engaging in battles becomes increasingly challenging over time. Even as players unlock new party members, the enemies’ strength escalates, making it crucial to invest your Free Time in enhancing your party’s capabilities. Strengthening individual characters not only prepares the team for tougher encounters, but also maximizes their unique skills.
Every character is designed with distinct strengths and weaknesses, and their specialized skills serve specific roles within the team dynamics. To improve each character’s effectiveness, players can upgrade their Class Weapons. This guide will walk you through the process of upgrading these essential tools.
How to Upgrade Class Weapons in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy

Starting from Day 3, players gain access to various school facilities, including the Training Room. To find the upgrade station, look to the left side of the Training Room where a table with a sword icon is located. Here, you can upgrade your characters’ Class Weapons, provided you meet the required materials. Upgrading yields substantial boosts to specific aspects of a character’s skills, such as increasing damage or enhancing attack range.
It’s important to note that upgrading Class Weapons can only occur during Free Time. While certain story events may allow exploration of the school environment, they do not enable weapon upgrades. When accessing the upgrade menu, you’ll select a character and a skill to upgrade. The left side of the screen will display the upgrade benefits, requirements, and costs. Notably, upgrading a weapon during Free Time does not consume additional time.
Requirements for Upgrading Class Weapons

Most upgrades beyond the initial level have Grade requirements that must be fulfilled. These requirements are linked to Takumi’s grades, which can be improved by participating in School Activities with classmates and presenting them with gifts. Throughout your gameplay, you will need to monitor the following five grades:
- Linguistics
- Math
- Science
- Social
- Gym
Often, the Grade you receive while engaging with characters will correspond to the requirements needed for their specific Class Weapon upgrades. Thus, prioritizing interactions with your strongest characters becomes essential for enhancing your party’s effectiveness.
Acquiring Materials via Exploration
In addition to Grade requirements, upgrading Class Weapons necessitates various materials, primarily BP. Players earn BP based on their performance in battles, making it relatively easy to accumulate, especially when combined with the collection of other materials. To gather the additional materials needed for upgrades, you will need to embark on Explorations outside the school, strategically landing on tiles that contain the materials you are seeking. The following four materials must also be gathered:
- Plant
- Textile
- Ore
- Machine
Remember that exploration consumes an entire day of Free Time, while you can engage in two Class Activities in the same day. To efficiently enhance your Class Weapons, it is vital to strike a balance between exploration for materials and participation in class activities focused on improving Grades for your most relied-upon characters.
