The beloved Disney Illusion Island, which debuted on the Nintendo Switch on July 28, 2023, is set to make its debut on multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This expanded accessibility will occur on May 30, 2025, marking the game’s shift away from Switch exclusivity.

Developed by Dlala Studios, Disney Illusion Island is a vibrant 2D platformer featuring iconic characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy. Players embark on a whimsical journey through the diverse challenges of Monoth Island, encountering various obstacles and formidable bosses. The game also allows up to three friends to join in via local co-op mode, enhancing the overall gaming experience. Following a mixed reception from critics, the title is now poised to reach a broader audience with its multi-platform launch later this year.

The May 30 release will include the base game, along with free downloadable content packs released previously, such as Keeper Up and Mystery in Monoth. Additionally, players can look forward to a new DLC called Cave Adventuring Scavenger Hunt (C.A.S.H.), featuring Scrooge McDuck as a playable character. This content will also be accessible to existing Switch players. Moreover, a physical edition of the game, which includes a collectible poster, will be available in North America on the same date and in Europe starting June 27. This edition is priced at USD 29.99 and will cater to enthusiasts on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

Launch Details for Disney Illusion Island on PS5, Xbox, and PC

  • Release Date: May 30, 2025

While losing an exclusive title may concern some Nintendo Switch fans, the excitement around a host of upcoming releases is compensating for this transition. Notably, the anticipated Switch 2 promises new titles like Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Kirby Air Riders. Furthermore, major Nintendo exclusives slated for later this year include Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, ensuring the Switch remains vibrant with new content.

Expanding to multiple platforms typically enhances a game’s sales potential and broadens its appeal among players. With this in mind, both Dlala Studios and Disney may be optimistic that the transition to wider platforms will boost the commercial success of Disney Illusion Island. At the same time, it will be interesting to observe whether the enhanced content improves the critical reception the game received during its initial Nintendo Switch launch.
