Exciting news for Pokémon GO fans: the game has unveiled the mechanics behind the transformations of the legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta. Scheduled to make their debut during Pokémon GO Fest 2025, the Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta will be introduced through a novel type of energy that players can harness from the Galar region, home to these Generation IX Box Art Legends.
Utilizing this new energy, trainers can transform Zacian, known as the Hero of Many Battles, into its formidable form, the Crowned Sword. Similarly, Zamazenta will change from its base form into the powerful Crowned Shield. Such transformations are set to create vibrant new gameplay strategies for trainers worldwide.
The two types of energy involved in these transformations are designated as Crowned Sword Energy and Crowned Shield Energy. Players who attend in-person events hosted in Osaka, Paris, and Jersey City will have exclusive early access to acquire this coveted energy.
As Pokémon GO Fest: Global kicks off, all trainers will have the opportunity to catch both Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta. Players can do this by engaging in Raid Battles or completing special ticketed research tasks within the game.
Moreover, players who possess Zacian or Zamazenta can upgrade their Pokémon to their Crowned Forms, provided they have the Charged Attack Iron Head and 1,000 units of the corresponding Crowned Energy. Remarkably, after the initial transformation, players can switch forms freely without further energy costs. However, it’s worth noting that these Crowned Forms cannot be transferred to Pokémon HOME.
New Moves Unveiled: Crowned Sword and Crowned Shield

Upon transforming into its Crowned Sword Form, Zacian’s Charged Attack Iron Head will be upgraded to Behemoth Blade. Meanwhile, Zamazenta will experience a similar upgrade; its Iron Head attack will morph into Behemoth Bash upon its transformation into the Crowned Shield.
Furthermore, both Zacian and Zamazenta in their new forms will participate in Max Battles, although they will not possess the abilities to Dynamax or Gigantamax. Players will have the opportunity to strengthen their moves and unlock new capabilities such as Guard and Split for these legendary Pokémon.
In an exciting twist, Pokémon GO has hinted that activating the Guard feature on Crowned Shield Zamazenta will unlock an additional mysterious power, further enhancing the gameplay experience.
