Upon arriving at the Zenithian Rift planet, you will trigger the quest titled “Breathe In, Don’t Choke.” Completing this quest is vital for unlocking the Default Air Filter upgrade.

1) Initiate the Quest

Venture into the icy cavern that leads to Brrrts Frozen Grotto. Locate the area in the grotto’s center where you can utilize your Stomp ability on the cracked terrain, allowing you to descend into the Depths of Trrn. Be sure to gather Lava here, as it will be essential for dissolving spider webs later with your pump gun.

2) Activate the Gas

Continue through the environment until you arrive at a chamber filled with floating rocks and green geysers. Stomp on one of the floating rocks to crack the ground, triggering a release of poisonous gas and providing a quest update. Pursue the quest marker leading to Plyxor’s Shaft, and utilize the grind rails to ascend to Bilodeau’s Floating Isle.

3) Open the Supply Crate

At the center of this vertical island, follow the power cables. You must interact with three buttons nearby to unlock a supply crate. Within the crate lies your Default Air Filter upgrade, although it will not yet offer full protection from all toxins.

4) Upgrade to the Toxic Deshocker

To enhance the air filter’s effectiveness, you will need the Toxic Deshocker upgrade. Travel to the Summit of Ruin using the grind rails. Once there, enter a nearby cave to scan a large creature and initiate a mission where you’ll need to capture the Alpha Toxwin. Stun it by hitting its head three to four times before attempting the capture.

After successfully capturing the Alpha Toxwin, use a teleporter to return to Stellaris Prime. Conduct research on the Alpha Toxwin at your base, then proceed to craft the Toxic Deshocker using the required materials: 400 Aluminium, 525 Carbon, and 325 Silicon.

With both the Air Filter and Toxic Deshocker, you are now equipped to safely navigate the most hazardous parts of the game world.

Acquiring these upgrades is essential for gaining access to previously restricted regions and missions. Therefore, it’s advisable to prioritize this upgrade early in your gameplay.
