The narrative of Part 7 centers on the Steel Ball Run Race, a remarkable trans-American event commencing in San Diego and culminating in New York City. Organized by Steven Steel and Lucy Steel (née Pendleton), the race attracted numerous sponsors and avid gamblers.

Participants had the freedom to utilize horses, camels, or even the newly emerging automobiles, alongside carrying weaponry—though the use of firearms was strictly prohibited for illicit actions. The organizers generously covered all medical, food, lodging, and travel expenses incurred by the participants.

Commencing on September 25, 1890, in San Diego and concluding on January 19, 1891, in New York City, the race extended over many days and segments. Cash prizes were awarded for each stage, with the top eight finishers receiving an hour’s time bonus to be applied in the final leg.

“What is this unforeseen intensity I’m experiencing? Such a thing was never meant to accompany the race… don’t worry, you should feel at ease… I can’t possibly come out ahead now.”- Mountain Tim in Steel Ball Run

Out of over 3,000 entrants, only 30 managed to complete the journey, with preliminary estimates indicating roughly 90 participants perished during the various stages of the race. The top five finishers in the final rankings received prizes, varying from 1 million for first place to 120,000 for fifth. Ultimately, Pocoloco was declared the winner, following Diego Brando’s disqualification.

Whereas Part 6 unfolds in the 2010s, Part 7 transports us back to the 1890s. Taking place within an alternate timeline, it retains many character names from earlier parts, which may create some confusion for long-time fans. However, newcomers to the series may find it accessible, as it doesn’t necessitate prior knowledge of earlier installments.

The official fan-centric event known as JOJODAY will occur on April 25, and is being actively promoted by the JoJo anime social media account. This has fueled expectations among fans for the announcement of Part 7.

However, it should be noted that this remains speculative; other projects, including potential spin-off series or new seasons of Rohan Kishibe, could similarly be unveiled. As it currently stands, there has been no formal confirmation of an anime for Part 7, but many believe it represents a logical progression for the franchise.

Should the announcement for Part 7 occur, whether at JOJODAY or subsequently, it is likely that Netflix may be involved once more.

What’s the Future of the Manga?

JOJOLands Chapter 6 Release Date

Currently, the manga is publishing Part 9, titled JOJOLands, since 2023, featuring Jodio Joestar, a descendant of Johnny Joestar from Part 7. While there is no official confirmation about its closure, many fans speculate that this might mark the conclusion of the series.

The second saga seems to weave elements from previous arcs, offering a distinctive retelling within a different timeline. Part 7 integrates aspects of Parts 1 and 2, while Part 8 draws from Parts 3 and 4.

Thus, it is inferred that Part 9 pays homage to Parts 5 and 6, potentially signaling the end of the entire series. Notably, fans have pointed out that Jodio’s name might reference both Giorno and Jolyne, protagonists of Parts 5 and 6, while also hinting at Jonathan and Dio from Part 1.

You can stream JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure on Netflix, available in both subbed and dubbed formats. Select seasons can also be found on Crunchyroll and other platforms.
