Chaeyoung’s Basic Information
Chaeyoung was born in Dunchon-dong, Gangdong, Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School in 2019, alongside fellow member Momo.
Chaeyoung auditioned for JYP Entertainment in June 2012 and passed the audition with flying colors.
Chaeyoung’s Career
After joining JYP, Chaeyoung appeared in the music videos of GOT7’s “Girls Girls Girls” (2014) and miss A’s “Only You” (2015).
In 2015, she appeared on the survival program “SIXTEEN” and finished in 7th place, thus officially becoming a member of TWICE.
Chaeyoung officially debuted as a member of TWICE on October 20, 2015 with the group’s 1st mini-album “The Story Begins” .
It is known that Chaeyoung has participated in the writing of various tracks released under TWICE, spanning from 2016 to currently. She also tried out designing.
Controversies & Dating
In 2020, rumors of TWICE’s Chaeyoung dating a 9-year-older tattoo artist emerged as netizens provide various “dating evidence” . Later on, a bracelet revealed by Chaeyoung also added fuel to this dating rumor, sparking debates. However, both Chaeyoung and her rumored boyfriend never spoke up about the situation.
In 2023, Chaeyoung came under fire for wearing a T-shirt with the Nazi symbol. As she was also criticized for wearing a politic-related shirt in the past, criticisms grew heavy, and Chaeyoung eventually had to issue an official apology.
