Kayla Nicole, the former partner of NFL star Travis Kelce and a well-known sports broadcaster and fitness influencer, recently made waves during an episode of her new podcast, The Pre-Game. In a conversation with relationship expert Shan Boodram, she subtly suggested that infidelity may have been a factor in her past with Kelce.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Nicole expressed how her childhood environment was steeped in the values of fidelity and commitment. She articulated a yearning for a fairy tale romance, sharply contrasting her aspirations with her real-life experiences.
“I have been conditioned to believe in a fairy tale of love and relationships. You watch the Disney movies. You grow up in church. I was raised to believe that a man and woman, if they are in a relationship, if they are married, you are only intended to be with each other, and you make this agreement, this promise to one another to hold each other accountable,”she shared.
Despite her ideals, Nicole candidly revealed that her romantic history was marred by betrayal, stating that she has not enjoyed the benefits of a truly monogamous relationship thus far.
“When you are cheated on, the heartbreak and devastation that come with that. The insecurities that come with that. It can be overwhelming. In my experience, I don’t have successful, monogamous relationships without any element of cheating,”she remarked.

The romance between Travis Kelce and Kayla Nicole took root in 2017 when Kelce reached out to her via social media after being an admirer of her Instagram for some time. During a February 2022 interview with E! News, he humorously recounted his initial approach.
“I was just stalking her, and then finally, on New Year’s, she gave in. And, you know, New Year, new me. She just shot her shot, jumped in my DMs, and the rest is history,”he recalled.
According to a report by Cosmopolitan on January 18, 2024, the pair had an on-and-off relationship that ended amicably in 2022, although they chose not to make any formal announcements regarding their split.
In an effort to recount her relationship experiences, Kayla Nicole launched The Pre-Game on April 4, 2025. In the initial episode, she discussed how her views on dating evolved, particularly after experiencing a high-profile relationship and subsequent breakup. She voiced concerns about how public scrutiny can affect personal relationships.
“I want to protect the things that mean most to me, and sometimes when you’re a little too open and you’re a little too transparent, you open yourself up to a world of opinion, a world of entitlement. People want answers. People think that you owe them an explanation about every single thing in your relationship, every up and down and happy or sad moment,”she indicated.
As a recent update, it has been reported that Travis Kelce began dating pop icon Taylor Swift in July 2023, following his breakup with Nicole. Additionally, during her podcast debut, Kayla Nicole hinted that she is in a new relationship but intends to maintain a level of privacy around her personal life.
