This year, Games Workshop has unveiled a remarkable lineup of Warhammer miniatures, with fans identifying the standout pieces through a year-end poll. As they continue to expand their iconic franchises, Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, the company introduces a fresh array of miniatures and intricate lore. These models range from entirely new units to updated versions of beloved characters, featuring innovative designs and builds. While the primary purpose of these miniatures is for gameplay, many enthusiasts also revel in the art of building and painting them for display and enjoyment.
In a bid to celebrate their successes, Games Workshop conducted a poll to determine the best Warhammer miniatures of the year. The voting was segmented into three categories, highlighting Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, and other franchises. The esteemed winners include the Night Lords Nemesis Claw for Warhammer 40,000, Ushoran from Age of Sigmar, and the Tomb King/Liche Priest on Necrolith Bone Dragon from Warhammer: The Old World.

2024: A Strong Year for Warhammer Miniatures

The Night Lords Nemesis Claw, a formidable assembly of eight grotesque Chaos Space Marines, emerged as the top choice for Warhammer 40,000. Initially designed for the game Warhammer 40K: Kill Team, these miniatures can also be utilized in traditional Warhammer 40K gameplay. Other noteworthy miniatures from this category included the Provisionally Prepared diorama, featuring Ratlings cooking on the battlefield, as well as the Inner Circle Companions and Asmodai, Master of Repentance from the Dark Angels.
Focusing on Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, Ushoran, a Mortarch from the eerie Flesh-Eater Courts, stood out as a fan favorite this year, benefitting from a complete line-wide refresh. Accompanying Ushoran in popularity were the rat daemon Vizzik Skour, the Chaos warrior Abraxia, and the Chaos Sorcerer Lord. Notably, the only representative from the forces of Order was Grombrindal, the classic White Dwarf character, who received a new model in honor of the magazine’s 500th issue.
Warhammer: The Old World garnered significant attention in the “other miniatures”category, with the Tomb King on Necrolith Bone Dragon leading the pack, followed closely by Lady Élisse Duchaard. The game’s revival in early 2024 saw the reintroduction of numerous classic miniatures along with a selection of new models. Additional votes acknowledged the Necromunda and Horus Heresy games, showcasing miniatures like the Malstrain Alpha and characters from the Thousand Sons and Alpha Legion.
