Kim Soo-hyun Faces Controversy Amid Support from International Fans
The South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun is currently embroiled in controversy following allegations concerning a past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron, who tragically passed away on February 16, 2025. In response to these allegations, a segment of his international fanbase has publicly shown their support by sending flowers and chocolates to him.
On March 19, 2025, a user on social media platform X, identified as @vanessaalthea26, shared images of the flowers and chocolates sent to Gold Medalist, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, by fans from Indonesia. Accompanying the gifts was a note affirming their loyalty to the actor despite the unfolding drama.
The photos, which bore the watermark of the fan group “Kim SooHyun Avanger From Indonesia,”were later deleted by the user on March 20 in the face of backlash from the public.
Another user, @ClydeJune2, echoed the sentiments of the Indonesian fanbase, sharing the same image and accompanying note while emphasizing that this support does not reflect the views of international fans regarding the accusations against Kim Soo-hyun.
Further complicating matters, a YouTube channel named Garosero Research Institute uploaded a video on March 10 featuring an alleged aunt of Kim Sae-ron, who claimed that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship for six years, during which she was a minor. In this video, it was also alleged that Kim Soo-hyun distanced himself from Kim Sae-ron after her DUI incident in 2022, which purportedly exacerbated her emotional and financial struggles leading to her death.
In response to the uproar, Gold Medalist has categorically denied all allegations against Kim Soo-hyun, labeling them as completely false.
The show of support from the Indonesian fanbase has sparked considerable criticism on social media, with many users questioning the appropriateness of sending gifts amid serious allegations. One comment on X captured the prevailing sentiment:

Gold Medalist’s Response to Allegations
On March 18, 2025, Gold Medalist released an extensive 12-page statement responding to the allegations. They asserted that Kim Soo-hyun did not have a romantic relationship with Kim Sae-ron prior to 2019, when she was of legal age. Furthermore, the agency clarified that they had settled her reported debt incurred from her DUI incident and had no intention of collecting any money from her.
To refute claims that Kim Soo-hyun had been at her residence in 2017, Gold Medalist questioned the validity of a viral photograph, stating that it was impossible to confirm the individual’s identity. They have also declared intentions to pursue legal action against those spreading false narratives concerning Kim Soo-hyun.
