Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Will Trent season 3, episode 13!
Will and Angie: The Chemistry That Could Reshape Their Future
In a recent discussion, Erika Christensen, who plays Angie in Will Trent, shared her insights on why the characters Will (portrayed by Ramón Rodríguez) and Angie should find their way back to each other. Throughout season 3, audiences have witnessed significant shifts in the relationships of the main characters, including Will’s budding relationship with Marion (played by Gina Rodriguez). However, episode 13 has reinforced the notion that Will’s feelings for Angie remain strong, despite his earlier decision to distance himself from a romantic connection with her at the close of season 2.
Christensen’s Perspective on Will and Angie
In an interview with TV Insider, Christensen expressed her desire to see Will and Angie ultimately get together. She pointed out that the love shared between them is still very much alive, highlighting their shared experiences and the unique bond they have cultivated over the years. The potential for their relationship to evolve remains uncertain, leaving fans eager for future developments. Here’s what Christensen had to share:
As far as television goes, yes, I want them to be together. They so obviously love each other, and they have something that isn’t necessarily better, but it’s different. It’s something that no one else could ever actually have, right?
That’s exactly what it is. It’s that they know each other. Not only have they grown up and lived every part of their lives together, but those types of shared experiences and what Angie went through last year or with trying to do the right thing and harming a young person, that sort of guilt and shame and everything that she had to work through there is — and that Will did not help her with. Now he ironically needs help through a similar situation.
The Implications of Christensen’s Insights
The history between Will and Angie is noteworthy, as they both grew up together in the foster care system before embarking on their careers in law enforcement. Will serves as a GBI special agent while Angie is part of the Atlanta Police Department. Their professional paths have intertwined frequently, strengthening their connection. This dynamic came into sharp focus at the conclusion of season 2 when Will arrested Angie over her involvement in the situation surrounding Crystal and Lenny.
While the fallout from that incident has lingered into season 3, it hasn’t entirely obstructed their collaboration on cases, such as the events of episode 13. Alongside Christensen’s observations expressing their deep-rooted connection, Will’s introspection regarding his relationship with Marion introduces a new layer of complexity. Although a full reconciliation with Angie may not be on the immediate horizon, the foundation exists for a meaningful renewal of their relationship.

Season 3: Potential Hints of Romance
Despite the current distance between Will and Angie, Christensen’s optimism for their endgame, paired with Will’s newfound self-awareness, opens the door for a possible rekindling of their romance. While it’s unlikely that Will Trent season 3 will see them back together officially, the episodes may provide valuable hints regarding their potential future. Nevertheless, it appears that both characters may still require time to heal before they can truly commit to one another.
Will Trent airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
