“The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” wraps up filming “Will it be possible to rebound?”

According to OSEN on April 11th, SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” completed all filming and is currently focusing on post-production. Lead actress Hwang Jung-eum finished filming in mid-March, followed by the completion of all filming by the end of March.

“The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” is season 2 of “The Escape of the Seven” , which concluded on November 17th last year. The drama stars actors who appeared in the previous season, including Um Ki-joon, Hwang Jung-eum, Lee Joon, Lee Yu-bi, Shin Eun-kyung, Yoon Jong-hoon, Jo Yoon-hee, Jo Jae-yoon, Lee Jung-shin and Yoon Tae-young, and premiered on March 29th.

Despite being anticipated as a work by writer Kim Soon-ok, who gained popularity through the “Penthouse” series, “The Escape of the Seven” fell short in ratings compared to concurrent dramas such as “My Dearest” . Accordingly, attention was focused on “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” , which promised stimulation and catharsis.

However, there were concerns even before the start. Lead actress Hwang Jung-eum’s divorce news shook things up externally. At the press conference, Hwang Jung-eum said, “I’m sorry that my personal matters might affect the actors, directors and staff, who poured their passion into ‘The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection’ for about 2 years. But personal matters are personal matters, and acting is acting.”

Although “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” has been in the spotlight due to Hwang Jung-eum’s divorce issue, the viewership ratings are not good. Starting with a viewership rating of 4.4% (Nielsen Korea nationwide) for its first episode, it dropped to 3.2% (episode 2) and 3.8% (episode 3), and episode 4 recorded only 2.7%. Considering the rise of concurrent dramas like “Queen of Tears” and “Wonderful World” in the same time slot, these figures are disappointing.

“The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 PM.
