The anime adaptation of The Beginning After the End has stirred significant controversy during the Spring 2025 Anime Season, and for various unfortunate reasons. This series has not only highlighted the depths to which animation quality can plummet but has also showcased a remarkably weak progression of its storyline. Given these issues, TurtleMe’s beloved manhwa might be in dire need of a more refined treatment.
Much like the acclaimed Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, a fresh remake of this adaptation by a new team appears to be an essential requirement in the future. The animation quality is paramount in the anime industry, and a change in the animation studio could prove substantially beneficial—something that the original Fullmetal Alchemist adaptation never required.

Reasons Behind the Call for a Remake of The Beginning After the End

The announcement regarding the anime adaptation was made on October 19, 2024, with Studio A-Cat being appointed for the animation. Fans approached this news with cautious optimism, aware of the studio’s history of less-than-stellar animation styles.
However, with TurtleMe selecting this studio personally, there was still a glimmer of hope among the fandom. Yet, when the adaptation premiered on April 2, 2025, their fears were realized. Viewers were met with lackluster 2D animation and subpar CGI, leading many to criticize it as a cheap imitation of Mushoku Tensei.

After a couple more episodes aired, fans took to the internet, spearheading a petition to halt the current adaptation of The Beginning After the End and start anew with a more skilled crew and animation studio.
While this petition may seem unrealistic, it isn’t entirely unexpected given that the adaptation has been viewed as a disservice to TurtleMe’s manhwa series. What it clearly needs is a revival similar to that experienced by Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
The Case of Fullmetal Alchemist
The original manga was created by Hiromu Arakawa and saw its first anime adaptation released by Studio Bones on October 4, 2003. However, this version had to create an ‘anime-original’ ending due to the ongoing nature of the manga.

The same studio promptly re-adapted the anime on April 5, 2009, under the title Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. This version closely followed the manga until its conclusion and significantly upgraded the animation quality, creating a far superior viewing experience. In contrast, while the storyline of The Beginning After the End is strong, its animation style and execution are in dire need of improvement.
A different animation studio with a commitment to visual excellence would help ensure that the show is appealing while limiting the use of CGI that detracts from the experience. Given the manhwa’s strong reputation, a remake could serve as a perfect redemption arc for The Beginning After the End.
Concluding Thoughts
The likelihood of the petition making a tangible impact to cancel the current adaptation of The Beginning After the End remains low. Therefore, fans are encouraged to await the conclusion of the first season, holding out hope that another animation studio might revive this series in the future.
While a complete re-adaptation might be a tall order, the possibility of future versions by a different studio could hold great promise.
