Terraformars Manga Goes on Another Hiatus Until Summer 2025

On April 10, 2025, the popular manga series Terraformars announced a pause in its publication until Summer 2025, just a year after its return in April 2024. The announcement was made in the latest edition of Weekly Young Jump, the magazine responsible for releasing its chapters.

Created by Yu Sasuga and illustrated by Kenichi Tachibana, Terraformars debuted on January 13, 2011, and has since published 23 volumes, with 22 available in English. The series has spawned a variety of spin-offs and adaptations, including anime series, a live-action film, and video games, highlighting its broad appeal across different entertainment mediums.

Exciting Return of Terraformars in Summer 2025

Following a nearly five-year hiatus due to health complications endured by its creator, Yu Sasuga, Terraformars made its return in April 2025, releasing one volume since. During this comeback, the manga shifted its publication from Miracle Jump to the more frequent Weekly Young Jump, also under the Shueisha banner, changing its release schedule from bi-monthly to a weekly format.

Regrettably, the series is entering another hiatus, as announced in the 19th issue of Weekly Young Jump for 2025. The manga will be on hold until Summer 2025 (specifically between July and September) for reasons that remain undisclosed to the public.

The Terraformars manga has inspired several anime adaptations, all produced by the renowned animation studio LIDENFILMS, recognized for its work on other celebrated series such as Call of the Night, Please Put Them On, Takamine, KAGINADO, Cells at Work: Code Black, and Love and Lies.

Notable voice actors for the anime include Shizuka Itou, known for her role as Akeno Himejima in High School DxD, portraying Michelle K. Davis; Yoshimasa Hosoya, as Akari Hizamaru; Hidenobu Kiuchi, as Shoukichi Komachi; and the late Unshou Ishizuka, who voiced Sylvester Aimov.

Key contributors to the anime’s production involve talented individuals such as Hiroshi Hamasaki, recognized as the director and key animator (notably for Perfect Blue), Shusei Murai, the music composer known for his work on Aiura, and character designers Masanori Shino (of No Guns Life) and Satoshi Kimura (associated with Jujutsu Kaisen).
