Target Issues Recall for 199,000 Blender Bottles: Reasons, Affected Locations, and Detailed Information

Target and Sakar International have initiated a recall of approximately 199,000 blender bottles due to a significant laceration risk. The concern stems from the fact that the blades of these blenders continue to spin even when not securely attached to the base.

These blender bottles, available at select Target locations across the United States, have prompted one complaint, although there have been no reported injuries at this time. The recall serves as a precautionary measure, offering customers the option for either refunds or replacements. It is important to note that customers should return the blenders directly to Sakar International rather than to Target stores.

Overview of the Recall

The recall, announced on April 3, 2025, affects Sakar International’s blender models, and was instituted due to the risk of lacerations associated with the faulty equipment. Around 199,000 units have been identified in this recall.

The underlying issue is that the blades remain active even when the device is turned off and disconnected from its power base, creating a dangerous situation that may lead to injury. Given these risks, Sakar International has proactively issued a recall.

The affected products are the Vivitar Blender bottles crafted by Sakar International, which were sold through Target stores and online between December 2024 and January 2025, priced at $5. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) describes the items as follows:

“The bottles are made of clear plastic and have a white plastic base with a white top. ‘VIVITAR,’ ‘Description: Blender Bottle,’ ‘ITEM: ES15-BB-TA’ and ‘MID #5220824’ are printed on a sticker located under the white plastic base of the bottle. ‘MID #5220824’ is also stamped on the underside of the white plastic base.”

These items were manufactured in China and imported by Sakar International Inc., located in Edison, New Jersey.

Steps for Customers with Affected Products

Customers who own these blenders are strongly advised to cease any use immediately. The return process is straightforward: affected customers can bring the product back to Sakar International to receive either a refund or a $5 Target gift card. Returns must be directed to Sakar International, not Target stores.

According to the USCPSC:

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled blender bottles and contact Sakar for instructions on how to receive a full refund in the form of a $5 Target gift card or a check, and a prepaid return shipping label. The recalled blender must be returned to Sakar to receive the refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required. Consumers should not return the recalled units to Target stores. Sakar is contacting all known purchasers.”

For further assistance, customers should reach out to Sakar at 800-592-9541 or via [email protected]. The company will provide a prepaid return shipping label to facilitate the return process.

Related Safety Recall: Target’s Favorite Day Cheesecake

In a separate incident, Target recently recalled its Favorite Day Cheesecake due to a mislabeling problem that poses a risk for individuals with specific allergies.

This cheesecake, a popular item among shoppers, inadvertently contained pecan nuts—a common allergen not mentioned on the packaging. This mislabeling could lead to reactions ranging from mild to severe for those allergic to tree nuts. The recall followed a customer report, yet thankfully, there have been no reports of illness linked to this specific product.
