In a revealing mid-game discussion with Entertainment Weekly on April 1, Kamilla Karthigesu of Survivor 48 opened up about her experiences with the original Civa tribe. Despite appearing confident to others, she shared how feelings of isolation hindered her ability to connect with her tribemates.

After navigating through a tribe swap, Kamilla found herself able to forge new alliances more effortlessly, indicating a significant shift in her strategy and social game.

Challenges in the Civa Tribe

Kamilla’s initial experience in the Civa tribe was marked by difficulty in forging social connections. Her naturally reserved disposition made it challenging to engage with her teammates, which she described as being “the quietest and shyest one there.”Watching others quickly build strong relationships left her feeling frustrated and discouraged.

“I watched others get so deep, so quick, and I was frustrated at myself for not being able to do the same,”she mentioned.

Nonetheless, she took the opportunity to observe her tribe members, hoping to learn tactics that would alleviate her feelings of isolation. Kamilla credited her self-awareness as a crucial factor that helped her adapt as the game’s dynamics evolved.

New Alliances Post-Tribe Swap

The tribe swap was a pivotal moment for Kamilla, where she discovered that connecting with the Vula tribe came much more naturally. She found common ground with her new allies, facilitating more genuine conversations rooted in shared backgrounds.

“We bonded over our family backgrounds and shared struggles. We bonded over our love for our parents and recognizing all the hardships they went through,”she expressed.

Kamilla highlighted that these connections transcended mere anecdotes, allowing for a profound understanding of each other’s journeys.

“We bonded over our love for our older siblings and how they were so influential to who we are today,”she added.

Strategic Insights and Survival Techniques

Once part of the Vula tribe, Kamilla quickly strategized her approach to gameplay, leveraging her acting skills to foster deception among her peers. Teaming up with Kyle Fraser, they successfully presented a façade of rivalry while secretly collaborating.

“Before Tribal Council? I had no option but to believe they bought it,”she reflected.

Her strategy involved consciously creating distance from Kyle, carefully avoiding discussions that might reveal their alliance to the other contestants, which she felt they “ate up.”

Furthermore, Kamilla’s tactical approach extended to utilizing advantages available in the game. When posed with the question of whether she contemplated misleading others about her extra vote, her answer was unequivocal.

“Never considered it after Mitch came back and shared his advantage with us,”she confirmed.
