Surprising Cast Members of One Marvel Team After Kevin Feige’s Recent Avengers: Doomsday Remarks

The upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday showcases an intriguing ensemble cast, featuring heroes from various Marvel factions. Recent remarks by Kevin Feige have left many fans surprised by the limited representation of Avengers within the lineup. This new installment represents a significant shift in the Avengers narrative, stepping away from the familiar characters audiences have come to know, as it embarks on a multiversal journey. Among the notable characters set to appear are X-Men icons such as Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and Kelsey Grammer’s Beast.

Crucially, these X-Men characters have yet to be incorporated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as we know it, suggesting that they might be alternate versions or variants from the Fox universe. Following this revelation, fan speculation peaked with theories of a potential Avengers vs. X-Men confrontation orchestrated by Doctor Doom. However, Feige clarified this notion, indicating that multiple Marvel teams would partner together against Robert Downey Jr.’s iteration of Doctor Doom. While the collaboration is thrilling, it’s anticipated that additional Avengers will also enter the fray.

Marvel officially announced the 27 cast members for Avengers: Doomsday on March 26. This impressive roster features representatives from the X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and Wakanda, along with surprise appearances from characters like Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Channing Tatum’s Gambit. Despite potential conflicts among these characters, Feige reassured fans during a recorded message at CinemaCon 2025 that these factions would ultimately unite to confront Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Many unanswered questions remain regarding this unprecedented alliance. Given that the X-Men and the Fantastic Four hail from alternate universes, it is plausible that Doctor Doom’s actions will create a multiverse-threatening scenario, necessitating collaboration among these disparate teams. This could involve a portal that brings them together or a scenario where the Time Variance Authority (TVA) assembles a new Avengers-like unit from across the multiverse. Considering the vast number of characters within the MCU, the relatively small representation of Avengers in this film raises eyebrows.

Although the cast of Avengers: Doomsday is extensive, the actual team of Avengers remains surprisingly small. With only five members confirmed from the principal MCU timeline—Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, Falcon, and Shang-Chi—true Avengers representation is limited. For analytical purposes, if we consider Bucky Barnes as part of the Thunderbolts and omit the Wakandan characters as they were named separately, this diminishes the list further.

Shang-Chi appears to be on the Avengers’ radar, particularly due to the significance of the ten rings, which could serve as a crucial MacGuffin in the upcoming film.

Notably, among these five, only two have been formerly part of the Avengers. Danny Ramirez’s Falcon has not officially joined yet, but the conclusion of Captain America: Brave New World implies that his inclusion is imminent. In a post-credit scene of Shang-Chi, he and Wong, Hulk, and Captain Marvel discuss the implications of the ten rings, suggesting his importance despite no concrete appearances in Avengers: Doomsday.

During his message, Feige disclosed that the complete cast list for Avengers: Doomsday has not yet been finalized, stating, “We revealed many, not all.” This suggests that additional characters from the MCU may yet be included, and many of them could very well be Avengers. While Spider-Man’s participation is unlikely due to the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, other prominent Avengers are very much in play.

For instance, Doctor Strange’s journey in the Multiverse of Madness ended with him and Charlize Theron’s Clea addressing an incursion, while Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel search for Monica Rambeau, who is currently trapped in an alternate universe with Beast after The Marvels. Moreover, several MCU characters, such as Hulk, Wong, and Star-Lord, remain alive and could potentially make appearances. Additionally, characters from Marvel’s television series like She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Ironheart, and Wonder Man could also bring fresh dynamics to the Avengers team. With the MCU’s vast literary universe, fans can expect even more surprises as Avengers: Doomsday approaches.
