Star Citizen Drake Golem: Price, Loadout Details, and Cargo Capacity

In a major update for Star Citizen, the introduction of the Drake Golem in Alpha 4.1 has set a new benchmark for industrial ships. This vessel stands out as a cost-effective option for mining enthusiasts, offering considerable storage capacity within a compact design.

Positioned as the most affordable industrial ship in Star Citizen, the Drake Golem is part of the starter ship lineup, allowing new players to embark on their mining journey without a hefty investment.

Pricing and Customization Options for the Drake Golem

You can acquire the Drake Golem from the Pledge Store for just $60. However, the Warbond offer brings the price down to $55, providing players with lifetime insurance compared to the standard version’s 6-month insurance. This competitive pricing is noteworthy, particularly since previous mining vessels like the Misc Prospector were priced at $150.

For newcomers interested in entering the Star Citizen universe, a Game Package featuring the Drake Golem is available at a standard price of $75, but is currently offered at an attractive $67 with the Warbond deal.

The in-game currency price for the Drake Golem is yet to be disclosed, as it might take a couple of patch cycles to be obtainable in-game, but expectations keep it below 2 million aUEC.

In addition to the default skin, the Golem features three unique paint options, which can be purchased collectively for $11.

One standout feature of the Drake Golem is its proprietary mining head, which limits players from changing it out for alternatives typically available on other ships like the Prospector or Mole. Despite this limitation, the Golem wields a specialized Pitman mining head that matches the Helix-1, the most robust size-1 mining head in the game, ensuring that power-based mining builds remain competitive.

The dedicated size-1 mining head includes two module slots for performance enhancements. Moreover, the Golem has an ore capacity of 32 SCU, conveniently contained in two size-16 ore pods that can be detached from the ship’s underbelly, matching the storage potential of the Misc Prospector.

While its armament might not be overwhelming, the Golem features 2 size-1 weapons and 2 size-1 missile racks, providing a minimal level of defense.

Compatibility with Other Spacecraft

The compact size of the Golem makes it exceptionally suited for organizations or players operating large ships. It can comfortably fit within cruisers like the RSI Polaris, Hercules C2, and Hercules M2. Although fitting it into an 890 Jump is possible with the landing gear retracted, the fit may be a bit tight.
