Unpacking Zoe and Mio’s Distinct Skills in Split Fiction

Following an intense confrontation with. exe-QT-3.14 in the prior subchapter, Zoe and Mio will exit an escape pipe but find themselves in separate areas. Unlike most of Hazelight Studios’ previous games, which often keep both characters together, director Josef Fares chose a different course to promote individual exploration briefly.
Each character possesses unique capabilities that allow players to engage in platforming tasks independently. Zoe has the ability to swim through water and utilize her magnetic powers to manipulate various objects, while Mio harnesses superior computer skills to hack into consoles and repair malfunctioning devices.
The two will eventually meet at a bridge, albeit on different levels, necessitating collaborative efforts to progress. Accomplishing the subsequent puzzle requires constant coordination to avoid mistakes and avoid causing delays.
Navigating the Waste Depot
As Mio finds herself beneath the bridge trapped by acid, Zoe’s magnetic abilities come into play, enabling her to create platforms that allow safe passage across. Precise timing is critical here, as Zoe must carefully release the platforms to avoid putting Mio in danger.
Upon crossing the acid, step onto a pressurized platform to unlock Zoe’s pathway from above. While they remain on opposite sides, Zoe will navigate a ledge to push a spinning arm as Mio jumps onto the parallel arm. Continue by grappling and running along ledges, followed by hacking into another platform.

After Mio successfully hacks the platform, Zoe can then make a significant leap onto it. Carry her to the magnetic plate to create an opening that leads to the main pathway. Be prepared for a surprise as the head of. exe-QT-3.14 drops down unexpectedly, but maintain your composure to avoid falling off the platform.
Next, proceed to a floating magnetic plate which will emit a conspicuous lighter green acid. Timing and patience are crucial in this section. Once Zoe is situated on the magnetic platform, Mio can silently slip through a narrow entrance leading to it. Zoe will then need to launch Mio across to land safely on the hacked platform.
Once both characters reunite on the opposite side, ascend the slope to discover a hidden bench on the right. Interacting with this bench is vital for unlocking the A Tale of Two Besties achievement or trophy, which features a brief dialogue reflecting on their shared journey thus far.
Step back to notice a colossal trash bin, which Mio can hack and elevate. Underneath this bin lies another magnetic launching pad that Zoe can use to catapult into the bin. This action transitions players into the next subchapter, marking the conclusion of Waste Depot and the commencement of Cell Blocks.
