To successfully defeat Dynamax Raikou in Pokémon GO with just two trainers, the following team compositions are recommended:
Team Setup
Player 1:
- Attacker 1: Level 40+ Excadrill with Mud Shot and Scorching Sands/Earthquake
- Attacker 2: Level 40+ Excadrill with Mud Shot and Scorching Sands/Earthquake
- Damage Sponge and Max Spirit User: Level 40+ Excadrill (Mud Shot, Scorching Sands/Earthquake) or Level 40+ Venusaur or Rillaboom (using Grass-type moves)
Player 2:
- Attacker 1: Level 40+ Excadrill with Mud Shot and Scorching Sands/Earthquake

Before launching your battle, ensure the following conditions are met:
- The weather is NOT rainy. Rain enhances Raikou’s Electric-type attacks, making them even more perilous.
- Raikou does not have Shadow Ball as its exclusive move. If it uses this Ghost-type attack, abandon that battle and rejoin to change the moveset. All team members can resist Electric moves but are vulnerable to Shadow Ball.
- Utilize a Max Mushroom. This item significantly boosts all attack powers while active, critical for executing your strategy successfully against Raikou.
When these prerequisites are satisfied, deploy your Excadrill, Venusaur, or Rillaboom to absorb damage, reserving Excadrill for dealing damage during Raikou’s Dynamax phase. This technique will allow you to overcome Raikou Max Battles in Pokémon GO with relative ease. Moreover, sunny weather and team support during the Power Spot can provide the necessary edge.
