Showbox Announces Filming with Cha Eun-woo, Kim Young-kwang, and Kang Ha-neul for ‘First Ride’

On April 10, 2025, the renowned South Korean news agency, Seoul Newsis, announced that filming has commenced for the much-anticipated film First Ride. Featuring a star-studded cast, including Cha Eun-woo, Kim Young-kwang, Kang Ha-neul, and Kang Young-seok, the project officially began production on March 21, 2025. “Depicts the story of childhood friends who embark on a long-awaited trip and are caught up in chaotic events and adventures. Four men with different personalities and occupations save up money to achieve their goal of ‘going overseas and have fun,’ a dream they have nurtured since their school days.”

Character Insights: Cha Eun-woo’s Aspirations in First Ride

In this film, Cha Eun-woo takes on the role of Yeon-min, a determined individual with dreams of becoming a music festival DJ. His character’s journey is juxtaposed with Kang Ha-neul‘s portrayal of a perfectionist who excels academically and personally, providing a deeper narrative of aspirations and societal expectations.

Moreover, Kim Young-kwang is set to play Do-jin, a character who initially aspires to become a basketball player but ultimately decides to pivot his life’s ambitions after crossing paths with Yeon-min. In contrast, Kang Young-seok plays Geum-bok, a character who diverges from the conventional path by embracing a religious lifestyle at an early age.
