Shawn Ashmore Discusses The Rookie Season 7 Finale Scene & Exciting Upcoming Story Arc

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for The Rookie season 7, episode 12!

The Developing Storylines in The Rookie Season 7: Insights from Shawn Ashmore

In the latest buzz surrounding The Rookie, Shawn Ashmore has shared intriguing hints regarding Wesley’s journey in the remaining episodes of season 7. Despite much of the spotlight being on characters like John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter), Wesley, portrayed by Ashmore, continues to be an integral part of the narrative. His character is a dedicated Assistant District Attorney, balancing his professional responsibilities with the demands of family life alongside Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz).

What to Expect for Wesley in the Final Episodes

During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Ashmore teased that upcoming plots would place Wesley back in a pivotal position within the series. He refrained from revealing specific spoilers but indicated that a key storyline would emerge from a “personal relationship at the DA’s office.”This hints at deeper character development and establishes Wesley as a significant player as the season progresses.

Yes. I honestly couldn’t tell you what episode it is because shooting 18 episodes, stories start to blend. But there are a few moments that I’m really excited that are great for Wesley, but there’s one episode in particular. I won’t spoil anything, but it has to do with a personal relationship at the DA’s office.

I think it’s just a really powerful, strong episode. I got to do some great work with one of our recurring castmates who’s very, very strong, but I don’t want to give it away. But it’s a strong storyline. I really, really enjoyed it. So I don’t want to spoil too much. But yeah, there’s some good stuff coming up. And the end of the season is pretty exciting too. I remember shooting that last scene being like, “Oh yeah, this is going to be a good one.”There’s a lot to look forward to.

Exploring the Potential Impact on the Series

The prospect of Wesley’s storyline indicates a shift in focus, potentially diverting attention from other dominant narratives in The Rookie. Currently, the series has been engrossed in the evolving relationship between Tim and Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) and the fallout from a chaotic April Fools’ Day crime spree in Los Angeles. Wesley’s new arc appears to delve into more personal themes, which contrasts with the high-octane circumstances faced by other characters.

Additionally, Ashmore’s comments suggest that significant developments are on the horizon, possibly involving the return of Monica (Bridget Regan), Wesley’s ex-fiancée. Given her past interactions with criminals, including Elijah (Brandon Jay McLaren), their reunion could lead to pivotal moments that transform the season’s conclusion. However, the cast hints that not every conflict will reach a resolution, opening the door for cliffhangers that may lead into a potential eighth season.

Conclusion: Looking Ahead to The Rookie’s Season Finale

With Ashmore’s character poised for a deeper involvement in upcoming episodes, audiences can expect heightened anticipation as the season progresses. Wesley’s evolving storyline, intertwined with significant events and character interactions, could reshape the dynamics of The Rookie in its final episodes. Fans should stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting conclusion!
