Seamless Co-op Experience in Dark Souls Now Available Through New Mod

Overview of the Dark Souls Remastered Mod

  • Yui’s eagerly awaited Dark Souls Remastered mod has officially launched.
  • Within just 72 hours, over 10,000 players downloaded the mod, highlighting its popularity.

Dark Souls Remastered has been enhanced with a seamless co-op feature, thanks to a newly released mod that has drawn many players back into the game after its launch.

This remarkable addition comes from Yui, a well-known modder celebrated for their extensive portfolio of gaming mods. Earlier this year, Yui introduced a seamless co-op multiplayer feature for Dark Souls 3 in February 2025 before focusing on a similar enhancement for Dark Souls Remastered.

Yui’s hard work culminated in the public debut of this innovative seamless co-op mod for Dark Souls Remastered, which was released on Nexus Mods on April 10. In an impressive feat, the mod garnered 12,150 downloads from more than 10,000 users within its first three days, indicating that many FromSoftware enthusiasts are returning to give the game another go.

Previously, players could summon others to assist with boss battles in Dark Souls Remastered, but the new ability to maintain a multiplayer group throughout the game—including after player deaths—significantly simplifies tackling even the toughest challenges. Additionally, the mod allows exploration in co-op without the hassle of disbanding after defeating a boss or needing to form groups beforehand. Essentially, Yui’s recent modification enables players to experience the entirety of Dark Souls Remastered in a single multiplayer adventure.

Added Features of the Dark Souls Remastered Seamless Co-Op Mod

This mod introduces a multiplayer scaling feature that affects all enemies, not just those encountered in boss fights. This adjustment aims to balance gameplay, acknowledging that exploring the game with friends can be much easier than intended, as many non-arena environments have not been designed with cooperative play in mind. However, players eager to power through the game with friends can easily disable this feature by modifying the ds1sc_settings.ini file located in the mod’s installation folder. Furthermore, the mod provides an option to completely disable invasions, transforming Dark Souls Remastered into a purely PvE experience.

It’s also important to note that the mod operates with distinct save files, which means that co-op saves cannot be transferred back to the base game. Additionally, the mod does not connect to FromSoftware’s servers, relying instead on a peer-to-peer system to facilitate the necessary data sharing for multiplayer gameplay. This ensures that using the Dark Souls Remastered seamless co-op mod is entirely safe, without risk of unwarranted bans. As of now, Yui has not disclosed their next project following the completion of this mod.
