Schedule 1 Developer Responds to Console Release Rumors

Overview of Schedule 1’s Impact and Developer Insights

  • TVGS, the developer behind Schedule 1, expressed enthusiasm about the potential for a console release.
  • Various games bearing the name “Schedule 1″have recently surfaced on the PlayStation Store, but these are not connected to TVGS.
  • The solo developer is currently focusing on enhancing game performance and adding official support for the Steam Deck.

Solo developer Tyler, known as TVGS, has addressed speculation regarding the highly popular indie title Schedule 1 possibly being released on consoles. Despite being in early access on Steam for just a few weeks, the game has already attracted a massive following, with many players eager for its arrival on platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

Since its early access debut on March 24, Schedule 1 has experienced remarkable growth on Steam. Initially, the crime simulation game, crafted by a single developer, astonished the gaming community by reaching a peak of over 130,000 concurrent players shortly after launch. This number surged to over 450,000 concurrent players by April 6, with the game now consistently averaging around 120,000 daily players. This impressive statistic positions Schedule 1 as one of Steam’s top contenders, alongside mainstream releases like Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds.

Developer’s Feedback on Console Prospects

Given its explosive success, fans are understandably eager to see Schedule 1 transition to consoles, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Tyler recently shared that along with future content updates, a potential console version is indeed on his radar. In a tweet, he clarified that the recent emergence of similarly titled games on the PlayStation Store is unrelated to his project. Tyler conveyed his desire to port Schedule 1 to console when it reaches the appropriate development stage, emphasizing that a formal announcement will be made well ahead of its launch.

While anticipation for a console version grows, it may take some time as the solo developer has various enhancements to address first. Recently, Tyler indicated plans to implement optimization improvements for Steam Deck compatibility. Although players can currently enjoy Schedule 1 on the Steam Deck, it lacks official controller support, which is a barrier to formal verification. Fortunately, the game is not overly demanding graphically, allowing for smooth gameplay ranging from 40 to 60 frames per second, depending on the chosen settings.

As fans look ahead to anticipated Steam Deck support and a console launch, there remain challenges for TVGS. The company is currently facing scrutiny due to allegations of copyright infringement, reportedly raised by Movie Games S.A., the publisher of Drug Deal Simulator. They claim Schedule 1 may have incorporated elements from their game’s storyline, mechanics, and interface.
