On March 25, 2025, the agency representing Gold Medalist and renowned actor Kim Soo-hyun announced the cancellation of his anticipated fan event in Taiwan, citing “safety concerns”as the official reason for this decision.
“For safety reasons, Kim Soo-hyun’s Taiwan brand event schedule has been postponed,”Gold Medalist reported to OSEN.
That same day, the mayor of Kaohsiung held a press conference urging event organizers to reconsider the Queen of Tears star’s participation at the city’s upcoming Sakura Festival. By the evening, the event organizer, 7-Eleven Taiwan, confirmed Kim Soo-hyun’s withdrawal from the fan meeting on their Instagram account, emphasizing his departure from the event.
“Due to a schedule adjustment of guest performer Kim Soo Hyun, the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival and OPENPOINT fan meeting on March 30 will be changed and adjusted,”7-Eleven Taiwan announced.
The actor’s fan meeting was set for March 30, 2025, during the Kaohsiung Cherry Blossom Festival, where 7-Eleven had planned to invite 200 fans through a raffle — an event eagerly anticipated by his followers.
This gathering was to be Kim Soo-hyun’s first public appearance following recent controversies. Reports had indicated that around 50 police officers would be on-site to handle security, further underscoring the heightened measures. The cancellation of the event is projected to result in significant financial repercussions, with estimates of losses reaching approximately 1.3 billion KRW.
MBC’s Good Day Teaser Released Without Kim Soo-hyun
On the same day, MBC released a teaser for episode 6 of their show Good Day through their YouTube channel TEO. Notably absent from the teaser was Kim Soo-hyun, who had previously participated in a segment alongside other stars such as Jung Hae-in and Kwanghee.
The 40-second preview featured popular figures like Defconn and G-Dragon, among others, and showcased a quiz segment, with G-Dragon amusingly trying his hand at the Whiplash choreography.
In light of the recent situation, Good Day has announced plans to minimize Kim Soo-hyun’s appearances in the episode and to cut scenes recorded on March 13, 2025. Additionally, the show’s release has been postponed by one week.
In other notable developments, the premiering of the highly awaited Disney+ K-drama titled Knock Off, featuring Kim Soo-hyun, has also been halted as a direct consequence of the ongoing issues. Confirmed by the production team on March 21, 2025, the show was slated for release in the first half of the year and had a substantial production budget of 60 billion KRW, with Season 2 already in the works.
In a related legal matter, Gold Medalist has initiated further legal actions against the Garosero Research Institute, a YouTube channel accused of blackmail against the actor. The channel reportedly threatened to leak sensitive video content unless Disney+ canceled the airing of Knock Off. Gold Medalist firmly rejected these allegations, calling them unfounded and declaring the claims associated with the Nth Room scandal completely false. This marks their second lawsuit in response to illegal content distribution following a prior case.
