Ryan Gosling Takes on Space Mission to Save Earth in ‘Project Hail Mary’ Preview at CinemaCon

Project Hail Mary: A Shining Star Emerges at CinemaCon

The eagerly anticipated film Project Hail Mary enjoyed a gentle unveiling during this year’s CinemaCon.

As part of Amazon MGM Studios’ presentation, the film dominated the spotlight, opening the night’s events at the iconic Colosseum in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Attendees were treated to an exclusive preview, with several minutes of engaging footage showcasing the film’s intriguing concepts.

Based on Andy Weir’s Acclaimed Novel

Adapted from the bestselling novel by Andy Weir, renowned for his earlier work on The Martian, Project Hail Mary tells the poignant story of Ryland Grace, portrayed by Ryan Gosling. Awakening in a spaceship bereft of memories, Grace faces the daunting challenge of salvaging Earth from an impending astronomical disaster. As he grapples with solitude, his journey takes an unexpected turn when he encounters a mysterious alien, also striving to save its species from annihilation.

A Stellar Cast and Crew

Alongside Gosling is the talented Sandra Hüller, recognized for her Oscar-nominated role in Anatomy of a Fall. Gosling also takes on the role of producer, collaborating with a formidable team that includes Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, Aditya Sood, Rachel O’Connor, and Weir himself. The executive producers comprise Patricia Whitcher, Drew Goddard, Sarah Esberg, Lucy Kitada, Nikki Baida, and Ken Kao, a testament to the project’s impressive pedigree.

A Historic Collaboration

The announcement of Gosling’s involvement as both star and producer made headlines back in March 2020, preceding the book’s publication by just over a year. Initially brought under the MGM banner during Michael De Luca’s tenure, the project has since transitioned following the studio’s acquisition by Amazon.

Mark Your Calendars

Fans can look forward to Project Hail Mary‘s theatrical release set for March 20, 2026. This movie also marks a significant return to space-themed narratives for Gosling, who previously portrayed Neil Armstrong in the acclaimed film First Man directed by Damien Chazelle.
