Highlights from Season 2, Episode 1

The season opener set the tone as judges Fabri Fibra, Geolier, and Rose Villain convened before the auditions, where Rose introduced a unique Japanese theme for their lunch. The trio reflected on insights gained from the previous season, underscoring the audience’s feedback, which aimed to enhance their judgment for this new cycle.

“This time around I’m looking for rappers who can create their own path. I’m looking for artists who get out on stage to say something,”

expressed Fabri Fibra, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in the performances. His journey took him to Turin, where he collaborated with Willie Peyote, immersing himself in the city’s rich freestyling culture. Together, they introduced rappers Kiki, Cuta, and True Skill, who took turns performing so Fabri and Willie could assess their potential.

Ultimately, the competition narrowed down when Fabri decided to eliminate True Skill, leaving Cuta and Kiki to battle it out in an exhilarating rap showdown.

Meanwhile, Rose Villain ventured to London where she collaborated with Sick Luke. Rose valued Sick Luke’s expansive reach beyond the Italian music scene, foreseeing its potential to discover the next big Italian rap star.

Sick Luke introduced her to Lina Simons and El3ven, both of whom had moved from Italy to London at a young age. In contrast to Fabri’s public showcases, Rose opted for a more intimate setting, asking the rappers to perform privately for her.

Following their performances, both Rose and Sick Luke found it challenging to choose which rapper would advance, with Rose ultimately selecting Lina while advising El3ven on the importance of embracing risk in his artistic journey.

“El3ven, I’m sure that you have a crazy story to tell. But you put walls up and kept some of it to yourself,”

noted Rose Villain, highlighting the need for vulnerability in music creation.

Returning to Italy, Sick Luke introduced another promising talent, Nox, to Rose Villain. Initially hesitant, Rose was soon captivated by Nox’s distinctive style, recognizing its potential appeal.

In a separate segment, Geolier reunited with his long-time friend Luche to scour the stunning Ionian Sea for emerging rap talents in Southern Italy. They met with Kid Carter and Nachelo, who faced the challenge of performing on a moving yacht. Following intense scrutiny, the judges chose to advance Nachelo to the next round based on the belief that Kid Carter lacked a definitive artistic identity.

The first four episodes of Rhythm + Flow Italy season 2 are currently available for streaming on Netflix, providing fans with more thrilling performances and insights into the ever-evolving world of Italian rap.
