LE SSERAFIM, one of the top 4th gen girl groups, finds themselves embroiled in controversy following the release of their latest album, ‘EASY.’
Criticism abounds as music critics and fans accuse LE SSERAFIM’s new release of blatant plagiarism, alleging that their tracks heavily copy from and reference established pop songs.
In a detailed critique by music critic Lee Seung Won, the lack of originality in ‘EASY’ is starkly highlighted. While acknowledging the group’s talent, Lee points out that their reliance on imitating successful pop tracks undermines their artistic integrity.

Rather than innovating, LE SSERAFIM’s album appears to be a compilation of borrowed melodies and styles, diminishing their credibility as trendsetters in the industry.
The extensive use of references in “EAST” goes beyond what’s necessary. Tracks like ‘Smart’ bear striking resemblances to Doja Cat’s ‘Woman’, not just in style but also in melody.
Similarly, the intro of ‘Good Bones’ and the mid/end chorus echo Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ ‘Date with the night’ are similar. Unlike LE SSERAFIM’s previous release, such as ‘Antifragile’, which skillfully reimagined Isabella Lovestory’s reggaeton, their lack of creative effort in “EASY” diminishes the group’s freshness, leaving listeners with a feeling of déjà vu.
Despite the controversy, LE SSERAFIM’s agency has yet to respond to the allegations of plagiarism.
