On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, it was officially announced that a manga adaptation of the Summer Pockets anime will commence serialization in May 2025. This announcement came from the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website, which serves as an extension of its Weekly Young Jump magazine.
Alongside the announcement, a vibrant color spread was released along with links to the already published prologue of the manga. The upcoming adaptation of the Summer Pockets anime will be illustrated by wogura, while Key, the company behind the original visual novel, is credited for the story. Key is a well-regarded brand within Visual Arts, known for developing the visual novel from which the anime is adapted.
Manga Adaptation to Launch on Tonari no Young Jump
The manga’s prologue, while visually appealing, may not meet all fans’ expectations for substantive content. It begins with a colorful illustration but offers limited text. The following pages include a key visual for the manga adaptation and information regarding the anime’s broadcast schedule. Unfortunately, the prologue does not specify a precise release date, only indicating a general timeframe of May 2025. Fans can expect more details to emerge as the release date approaches, likely through updates from the Tonari no Young Jump website and their social media channels.
In addition to the main manga, a spinoff titled Summer Pockets Mugyu Days ~Tsumugi no Shima Sanpo~, which translates to Summer Pockets Mugyu Days ~Tsumugi’s Stroll in the Island~, is also in the works. This spinoff began serialization in February 2025 in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Moeoh magazine and on KadoComi’s platform, illustrated by Yunon Nagayama, an original character designer for the game.
The Summer Pockets anime premiered in Japan on April 7, 2025, airing on channels such as Tokyo MX and BS11. Directed by Tomoki Kobayashi at Feel Studios, the series is also being streamed internationally by Crunchyroll, with English subtitles available for viewers. As of now, there has been no announcement regarding alternate language dubs for the series.
The original visual novel was released on June 29, 2018, for Windows, and is classified for all ages. An expanded edition debuted two years later on June 26, 2020, in Japan. Both versions have been adapted for iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch, with the latter also available on the PlayStation 4 in Japan.
