Season Three Recap and Future Speculations

While the explosive conclusion of Season Three left viewers stunned, it has been confirmed that The White Lotus will return for another season. This season finale, filled with shocking twists, raised questions about which beloved characters might make an encore appearance.

Who Might Return?

In anticipation of the climactic finale, The Hollywood Reporter engaged the cast in discussions about potential returning characters. Unsurprisingly, Jon Gries, known for his role as Greg/Gary, dominated these conversations, as he has already made appearances in both prior seasons.

“Jon is like the barnacle of The White Lotus ship; he stays around,” commented Natasha Rothwell, who plays Belinda. Walton Goggins, known for his character Rick, expressed a similar sentiment, exclaiming: “Obviously Jon. It feels like Jon is going to be in every season. Sorry if I gave that away,” while emphasizing he has no insider information.

Gries himself remains uncertain about his future with the series, noting that he did not anticipate returning for either seasons two or three. Initially, his character was slated for an early exit in season one, leaving fans wondering about Greg’s arc. “There’s no predicting what Mike White does,” Gries remarked. “I would love to come back, but is the book on Greg complete? I can’t say.”

Potential Comebacks for Belinda and Others

Speculation suggests that fans have not seen the last of Rothwell’s Belinda. After accepting a substantial payoff from Gries’ character in the finale, there are hints of a compelling return. “The odds are in her favor,” commented Carrie Coon, who plays Leslie. Tayme Thapthimthong, portraying Gaitok, also hinted at further developments for Belinda, stating that the conclusion of this season feels open-ended, potentially setting her up for future storylines.

“I feel like Belinda is everyone, and everyone is Belinda,” Rothwell expressed regarding her character’s resonance with audiences. “Maybe, selfishly, they want to be a part of it, through me.”

Other cast members also chimed in on possible returns. Aimee Lou Wood, who played Chelsea, suggested that Leslie Bibb’s character, Kate, could join another vacation scenario with a new ensemble cast—including potential appearances by Daphne, from season two, played by Meghann Fahy.

Goggins mentioned his desire to see Michelle Monaghan’s character, Jaclyn, return to a different narrative arc, potentially alongside her newly independent character after distancing from Jason Isaacs’ role as Timothy Ratliff, who faces dire consequences following the finale’s events.

However, Isaacs himself has written off chances of returning, humorously stating, “I’m going to prison, and I won’t be able to afford staying at a White Lotus.”

All-Star Season Rumors

Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays the eldest son in the Ratliff family, speculated that his entire family might not return, though he hinted at the potential for an all-star season comprising familiar faces. “I feel like they’d do all the douchiest guys together or all the hotel managers together,” he shared, referring to ideas tossed around by creator Mike White.

“Assuming this keeps going and people like it and HBO likes it, it would be cool,” White stated about the prospects of an all-star season, while acknowledging the logistical hurdles due to the rising fame of the cast members.
