Pokemon GO May Event to Introduce New Gen 9 Pokemon

Event Overview: Kingambit’s Arrival in Pokémon GO

  • Kingambit, a Dark/Steel-type Pokémon from Generation 9, is set to debut during the Crown Clash event in Pokémon GO from May 10 to May 18, 2025.
  • To add Kingambit to your collection, players must have Bisharp as their buddy and defeat 15 Dark or Steel-type Pokémon in Raids.
  • The event will also feature double XP for Pokémon evolutions and an enhanced opportunity to encounter shiny Nidoqueen and Nidoking.

Pokémon GO is excited to introduce Kingambit, a new addition from the Paldea region, during the Crown Clash event in May. This mobile game continues to expand its roster, showcasing around fifty Pokémon from the ninth generation, with many Paldean species being added consistently.

Throughout 2025, several Paldean Pokémon have already made their way into the game, including Shroodle, Fidough, and their evolutions. Following the recent Horizons Celebrations event, which unveiled Tinkatink and its evolutionary line, players can now anticipate yet another exciting addition from Paldea.

During the Crown Clash event, which takes place from May 10 at 10:00 a.m. to May 18 at 8:00 p.m. local time, Kingambit will be obtainable by evolving Bisharp. Notably, players will need to defeat at least 15 Dark-type or Steel-type Pokémon in Raids for this evolution, although Bisharp is not required to join the Raid battles themselves. Additionally, Pawniard will feature prominently in one-star Raids, giving players a chance to encounter its shiny variant.

With Kingambit promising to be a formidable contender among the Steel-types in Pokémon GO, players are encouraged to seize the opportunity to include it in their gaming lineup. The Crown Clash event will also offer several bonuses, including double XP for evolving Pokémon, as well as increased chances of encountering shiny versions of crowned Nidoqueen and Nidoking, along with other shiny Pokémon such as Slowpoke and Combee.
