On March 17, 2025, Kbizoom reported a significant press conference held by the family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron outside the Seoul Metropolitan Police Station at 2 PM KST. This event highlighted their escalating accusations against actor Kim Soo-hyun and his management agency, Gold Medalist, regarding the controversial circumstances following Kim Sae-ron’s tragic death on February 16, 2025.
The family has publicly demanded accountability, claiming that Kim Soo-hyun and Gold Medalist have consistently ignored the serious allegations surrounding an alleged underage romantic relationship between the late actress and the actor. They contend that the agency’s responses have attempted to deflect responsibility rather than address the core issues of the ongoing scandal.
During the press conference, the family expressed their frustration that Gold Medalist had seemingly attempted to distance itself from the issue by invoking a “breach of trust”narrative. The following statement encapsulates their sentiments:
“We read and reread Gold Medalist’s statement. It felt as though it had been drafted with the mindset of a legal team accustomed to political circles, focused on whether evidence is admissible and how to argue their case rather than on the truth itself. Do not attempt to justify your actions by suddenly bringing up the crime of breach of trust out of nowhere.”
Furthermore, they disclosed that Kim Sae-ron had attempted to reach out to both Gold Medalist and Kim Soo-hyun upon receiving a legal notice for debt settlement of approximately 700 million won (around $483,186), but her calls went unanswered. They expressed their disappointment, stating:
“Gold Medalist never once told Sae-ron not to be alarmed because the notice of certification was merely a company procedure related to an alleged breach of trust. When Sae-ron received the document, she personally called each and every company representative, but no one answered her calls or provided her with a response.”
Allegations Regarding Kim Soo-hyun’s Relationship with Kim Sae-ron
Compounding the controversy, a video released by the YouTube channel Hoverlab, also recognized as the Garosero Institute, on March 10, 2025, featured an individual claiming to be Kim Sae-ron’s aunt. In her statements, she asserted that Kim Soo-hyun, now 37, had been in a romantic relationship with Kim Sae-ron since she was 15, a connection that allegedly lasted six years.
On March 11, in light of these claims, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, swiftly issued a statement denying the allegations and criticized online detractors for causing distress to the actor, also known for his role in “Queen of Tears.”They emphasized that the two were not romantically involved during Kim Sae-ron’s time as a minor, a point of contention amidst the accusations.
The fallout from these revelations was immediate, with luxury fashion brands including PRADA and skincare company Dinto severing ties with Kim Soo-hyun. Additionally, G-Dragon’s reality series, “GOOD DAY,”announced they would omit Kim from future episodes. Other brands, such as Homeplus and Classy, followed suit, halting or terminating their endorsements with the actor due to ongoing public outcry.
As reported by The Korea Times on March 17, 2025, Kim Sae-ron’s family has demanded that Kim Soo-hyun formally acknowledge and apologize for their past relationship when she was underage. They stated:
“We ask Kim Soo-hyun to admit to dating Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor and issue an official apology. We also demand an apology from his agency, which has denied the relationship for the past three years and even repeated this denial just three days ago.”
Moreover, recent reports indicated that Kim Soo-hyun has lost over 300,000 followers on Instagram in light of the serious allegations regarding the relationship with the late actress. The repercussions of this controversy continue to unfold, casting a shadow over the careers and reputations involved.
