Niantic’s “Expert Box” in Pokemon GO Sparks Player Discontent

Pokemon GO’s Expert Box Faces Player Backlash

The recently launched item bundle in Pokemon GO, dubbed the Expert Box, has elicited a wave of discontent among players. A Reddit user, u/jeejee70, shared details of the bundle’s contents, which include 50 Razz Berries, 50 Nanab Berries, and 50 Pinap Berries. This combination costs 750 Pokecoins even after a discount, raising eyebrows among the community.

Community Reactions to the Bundle

The berries included in the Expert Box are generally not hard to come by in the game. Players often acquire these items by spinning Pokestops, completing Field Research tasks, or receiving them as gifts from friends. Consequently, the decision to package such easily obtainable items in a for-purchase bundle has left many players feeling frustrated.

Expert box, really? by u/jeejee70 in pokemongo

The sentiment among players has largely been one of disappointment, with many expressing that these items are trivial and rarely worth holding onto. User u/Jan_the_Man commented:

“I’ve deleted more berries and nanabs than that in the last week alone.”

Another user, u/Impossible_Ad661, humorously remarked about the financial implications of purchasing this box:

“Wish I could qualify for a mortgage now that I know I’m a millionaire based off these metrics.”

Additionally, u/cedrickterrick jokingly pointed out that genuine experts wouldn’t find value in such a box:

“Experts don’t buy these. Making them expert.”

Another player, u/EmperorXander, declared this release possibly one of the worst item bundles in Pokemon GO’s history.

In addition, a user named u/nolkel highlighted a contrasting example of a different box priced at 9400 coins that offers 100 Raid Passes, stating it lacks substantial value compared to purchasing the items individually:

“Have you seen the 9400 coin box that only gives you 100 raid passes and a few junk items? It’s surely worse since it seems like it might be something to buy, but actually costs you 12.8% more coins than base pricing. The berry one is at least obviously bad right on the surface.”

Are Rewards Consistent in the Pokemon GO Expert Boxes?

Interestingly, it has been noted that not all Expert Boxes provide the same contents. Some players receive boxes filled with premium rewards that are unattainable through regular gameplay, intensifying the frustration for those unfortunate enough to receive the less desirable contents like those described by u/jeejee70.
