On March 19, 2025, fans of the Yaiba anime were treated to exciting news as the series announced several new voice actors for its upcoming adaptation. One of the standout additions is Kana Ichinose, widely known for her role as Fern in the critically acclaimed series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
While details beyond the new cast members were limited, it should be noted that much of the series’ information has already been disclosed to audiences. The only major element still under wraps is the anime’s ending theme song, with international streaming details already confirmed for fans.
Significant Casting Announcements Ahead of April 2025 Launch
In her role, Kana Ichinose will portray Namako Otoko (Mr. Sea Cucumber). The new cast also includes a talented lineup with Atsushi Miyauchi as Raizo Mine, Rina Sato as Shizuka Mine, Kimiko Saito as Fuji Mine, Takeharu Onishi as Gerozaemon Geroda, Shuhei Sakaguchi as Kumo Otoko (Mr. Spider), and Go Inoue as Saski Kojiro. These names and the character translations have been identified as official as of this article’s publication date.
While Ichinose shines as the most recognizable new voice, the other actors bring their own impressive backgrounds to the table. They have garnered recognition in prominent anime roles such as Vinsmoke Niji from One Piece, Senjumaru Shutara from Bleach, Rem from Death Note, Murata Tetsuya from Gintama, Yusuke Takinoue from Haikyu!!, and Chizome Akaguro/Hero Killer Stain from My Hero Academia. They join the previously announced main cast, which includes:

The eagerly awaited Yaiba anime is set to debut on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 5:30 PM JST across YTV, NTV, and associated channels. This new adaptation is based on the works of renowned mangaka Gosho Aoyama and will be broadcast in a time slot directly leading into the popular adaptation of Aoyama’s Detective Conan series. Additionally, viewers in North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand can watch the series on Netflix, while it will also be available on Hulu in the United States.
Direction of the series is entrusted to Takehiro Hasui at Wit Studio, with Touko Machida handling script duties and Yoshimichi Kameda as the character designer and chief animation director. The sub-character designer and main animator roles go to Takeshi Maename, while Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa compose the score. Haru Yamada manages sound direction, and Maiko Okada serves as the animation producer.
While further details about the anime’s ending theme remain under wraps, the opening theme, titled “Blade,” will be performed by Blue Encount.
