New Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Sequel Set for Release This July

In an exciting update for anime enthusiasts, the official website for the adaptation of Iro Aida’s Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga announced on Sunday that a sequel to the recently concluded second season is currently in development, with plans to premiere this July, which aligns with the Spring 2025 anime season. The second season debuted on January 12 and was simultaneously streamed on Crunchyroll, providing fans around the globe with access to new episodes as they aired in Japan during the Winter 2025 season.

While the exact premiere date for the sequel remains undisclosed, it has been confirmed that it will air every Sunday at 4:30 PM JST. In celebration of this announcement, the original author shared a brand-new illustration, heightening anticipation among the fanbase.

The storyline of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun unfolds in the esteemed Kamome Academy. This school is haunted by the “Seven Wonders,”a collection of supernatural phenomena that captivate students. The protagonist, Yashiro Nene, becomes unexpectedly entangled with one of these wonders, the mysterious entity known as “Hanako-kun,”who is rumored to inhabit a haunted stall in the girls’ restrooms. Together, they delve into the eerie mysteries surrounding the academy.

The inaugural season premiered in January 2020 and spanned 12 episodes, marking a promising start for this anime adaptation. It was praised for its striking visuals and a narrative that skillfully balances light-hearted moments with darker themes lurking beneath its vibrant art style.

In December 2022, it was revealed that the series would undergo a “restart.”This initiative commenced with the adaptation of the spin-off titled After School Hanako-kun, which aired from October to December 2023, followed by a four-episode sequel in October 2024. The latest installment, the second season of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, wrapped up recently.

Masaomi Andō directed the first season, with Yōhei Fukui stepping in for the second season, having previously directed episode 10 of the first season. Fukui continued to collaborate with other returning talents, including scriptwriter Yasuhiro Nakanishi and character designer Mayuka Itō.
