New Killer from Tokyo Ghoul Unveiled in Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight has finally introduced a long-anticipated character to its lineup: Ken Kaneki, the iconic half-ghoul from the renowned anime and manga series, Tokyo Ghoul. Available now as a Killer in the game, players stepping into his path should brace themselves, as Kaneki brings a formidable array of abilities designed for ruthless efficiency in hunting Survivors.

For nearly a year, the gaming community has speculated about Kaneki’s arrival, especially after several Dead by Daylight Easter eggs hinting at Tokyo Ghoul began emerging in recent game updates. The clues began in Chapter 31, featuring an in-game theater marquee advertising a fictitious movie titled “The Ghoul’s Lament.”Recent hints resurfaced in February, featuring distorted messages broadcasted via an in-game radio located in a locked office space.

Confirmed through the game’s official social media channels, this crossover has culminated in the introduction of “The Ghoul,”a reimagined version of Ken Kaneki. Equipped with a unique skill set, he poses a substantial threat to Survivors. His high mobility, enhanced by four tentacles, enables him to execute the Kagune Leap ability, allowing for quick traversal across the map while bypassing pallets and vaults. This leap can be chained into a second attack, which inflicts Deep Wounds on any Survivor hit, alongside a Kagune Mark status effect that propels The Ghoul into a more aggressive state, permitting further leaps and enhanced evasion capabilities.

To complement his mobility, Kaneki also possesses three specific Killer perks that amplify his lethality. The perks include:

  • Hex: Nothing But Misery – A curse affecting all Survivors after dealing damage eight times, hindering their movement for a duration.
  • Forever Entwined – This perk accelerates The Ghoul’s speed in picking up, dropping, and hooking Survivors following a successful hit.
  • None Are Free – Once all generators have been activated, this late-game ability briefly blocks windows and pallets, severely limiting escape routes for Survivors.

The recent inclusion of such an agile Killer sharply contrasts with the adjustments made to another character, the Skull Merchant. Following her significant rework at the end of March, the Skull Merchant relies on drones for attack and reconnaissance, indicating a more tactical approach compared to The Ghoul’s straight-forward hunting style.
