New Battle Pass System Unveiled in Diablo 4

Overview of Diablo 4’s New Battle Pass System

  • Season 8 introduces a revamped battle pass known as Reliquaries.
  • Players will have the flexibility to purchase various Reliquaries with Platinum and can claim rewards in any preferred order.
  • A unique bonus reward for players includes the Guise of the Deceiver armor set, replete with striking equipment.

Diablo 4 is set to launch a significant update to its battle pass system in Season 8, a development previewed by Rod Fergusson, the game’s director. This update signals a move toward a more player-centric approach to rewards, appealing to both new and veteran gamers.

Under the new framework, the battle pass comprises 90 tiers. Of these, 28 tiers are accessible for free, while the premium version grants players access to all tiers. Additionally, an accelerated version will allow speedy access to rewards, including the premium pass benefits, 20-tier skips, and class-specific emotes. As players progress through the tiers, they can unlock an array of rewards such as Smoldering Ashes, various armor transmogs, weapons, mounts, and memorial headstones. While this battle pass format has been a staple since the debut of Diablo 4, the upcoming update promises to enhance the experience.

Introducing Reliquaries: A Fresh Feature in Season 8

The revamped battle pass system, titled Reliquaries, will debut when Season 8 hits. Players can choose from four distinct Reliquaries. The Belial’s Return Reliquary is free, while the others—Weapons, Beasts, and Armor—are priced at 200, 500, and 800 Platinum, respectively. A comprehensive Deluxe Bundle is also available for 2,800 Platinum, which includes all three paid Reliquaries, the Guise of the Deceiver armor set, Deceiver’s Final Form wings, and the Orinocta owl pet. Furthermore, select Reliquaries will be available for a limited time during special events, reminiscent of Diablo 4’s upcoming crossover with the iconic series Berserk.

Once a Reliquary’s rewards are fully claimed, players will receive a bonus item, a component of the Guise of the Deceiver armor. This new gear set features a striking design in blue and black with elaborate horns, pointed shoulder pads, and golden claws, equipping players with a commanding presence in Sanctuary.

As Season 8 approaches on April 29, Blizzard has shared exciting updates for Diablo 4, including the revamped battle pass, new Unique items, and Legendary Aspects tailored for each class. The return of Belial promises to inject fresh challenges into the game, alongside practical quality-of-life enhancements and necessary nerfs to overpowered builds.
