My Thoughts on Next Season’s Bachelor In Paradise Twist: Mixed Feelings But I’ll Still Tune In

While my enthusiasm for Bachelor In Paradise Season 10 is soaring, the newly announced twist has me feeling uneasy. As a devoted fan of the entire Bachelor Nation franchise, I genuinely look forward to BIP, even more so than The Golden Bachelor or The Golden Bachelorette. Considering my fondness for those spin-offs, it’s surprising to find myself concerned about this new direction.

The excitement peaked during the recent Bachelor Season 29 finale when host Jesse Palmer revealed that Bachelor In Paradise will make its much-anticipated return this summer. However, this enthusiasm quickly faded upon learning about the introduction of contestants from The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette into the mix. Here’s what this means for the show and why I’m apprehensive about the change.

Could This Spell Trouble for the Show?

During the finale, Jesse introduced the concept of having contestants from the Golden franchise join the ranks of Bachelor In Paradise. My fondness for these shows tells me they work best in their own spheres, and the thought of this merger raises alarms. I’m genuinely concerned that this change might detract from the heart and soul of BIP, which is something I sincerely hope doesn’t happen. ABC, we’ve built a ritual around BIP; let’s not disrupt a successful formula.

What Does This Mean for Bachelor In Paradise?

The Success of This Season Depends on the Format

Details on how the integration of Golden contestants will function remain vague. One potential scenario could involve maintaining two parallel storylines with separate rose ceremonies, which I believe would be the ideal compromise. On the flip side, the thought of a chaotic mingling of both age groups in a single, mixed dating environment feels daunting. Hopefully, the Golden contestants will take on more of a guidance role, much like bartender and former contestant Wells Adams currently does. Fingers crossed!

I sympathize with the ABC producers who are in a challenging position given the soaring popularity of The Golden Bachelor franchises. This success has created scheduling challenges that have forced them to pause shows like The Bachelorette. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that mixing these beloved concepts is unnecessary and could detract from the unique charm of Bachelor In Paradise.

Bachelor In Paradise is set to premiere in summer 2025 on ABC, and I, for one, am eager yet anxious to see how things unfold.
