New Blocks
Dried Ghast Block
- Located within Nether Fossil structures in the Nether.
- Craftable using 1 Bone Block and 8 Ghast Tears.
- When waterlogged, it transitions through three states over approximately 20 minutes, ultimately spawning a Ghastling mob.
- Emits sounds and particles that correspond to its state.
- Mined during waterlogging will revert it to its “dry”status, regardless of its previous state.
- If removed from waterlogging, it returns to its initial state over the same 20-minute timeline.
New Mobs
Ghastling
Meet the Ghastling, a juvenile version of the Happy Ghast.
- Spawns from a Dried Ghast block that has been continuously waterlogged for around 20 minutes.
- It will follow:
- Players within a 16-block radius, or
- Adult, non-aquatic passive mobs within the same radius.
- If no relevant players or mobs are nearby, the Ghastling will remain idle within a 32-block radius from its last interaction point.
- Can be fed with Snowballs to attract it.
- Advances to a Happy Ghast in roughly 20 minutes (or quicker with Snowball feeding).
- Summonable via command:
/summon happy_ghast ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ minecraft:spawn_baby
.
Happy Ghast
The Happy Ghast serves as a new flying mount capable of carrying up to four players.
- Emerges from a Ghastling after a set period (or faster with Snowball feeding).
- Equippable with a harness to allow mounting by up to four players.
- Responds to Snowball and harness tamed behaviors, but the harness must be detached first.
- Displays no panic when damaged.
- Slowly regenerates health, with faster regeneration under rain or snow, and while flying at the cloud level.
- The first player to mount becomes the “pilot,”positioned near the Ghast’s face.
- When a player mounts, the Happy Ghast’s goggles drop, visually indicating it can be controlled.
- Subsequent players automatically occupy designated slots around the pilot.
- Pressing crouch dismounts the pilot.
- The Happy Ghast halts movement upon detecting players mounted and aligns itself to the nearest cardinal direction.
- This behavior occurs regardless of harness status.
- The 3rd person camera adjusts when a player is mounted.
- In players’ absence, the goggles rise, allowing the Happy Ghast to start roaming.
- Should players dismount while in flight, it descends before continuing to wander.
- Unable to enter boats, it idles within a 64-block radius when unmounted; when harnessed, it stays within 32 blocks.
- Tries to remain near blocks during its roaming animations.
- Known Issue: The Happy Ghast’s health points are currently listed as 40 but should be set to 20; a fix is forthcoming!
Updated Ghast
- The Ghast mobs have received a texture update.
New Items
Harness Item
The harness, specifically crafted for the Happy Ghast, allows players to ride on it.
- Crafted with 3 Leather, 2 Glass Blocks, and 1 Wool Block; its color matches the wool used.
- Can be dyed multiple times.
- Exclusive to the Happy Ghast for mounting.
- Allows up to four players to ride.
- Can be removed with Shears, provided no players are currently mounted.
Commands
- New command for Game Rule:
locatorBar
to toggle the Locator Bar feature.
Vibrant Visuals Upgrade
In this latest beta and preview, players can also enjoy a first look at the Vibrant Visuals upgrade. The enhancements in rendering lighting, effects, and assets are currently under development, promising further refinements in future updates.
The devices currently supporting this update include:
- XBOX Series X|S, XBOX One
- PlayStation 4 and 5
- Android and iOS
- PC using DirectX 12
The minimum specifications for Android devices include Adreno 640, Mali-G68, Mali-G77, or Xclipse 530 and higher; for iOS, A12, M1 or higher; and for PC, ensure Minecraft runs on DX12.
To utilize Vibrant Visuals, enable the corresponding toggle within the Experimental tab located in the Create New World or Edit World interface. This will allow players to access Vibrant Visuals as an option under Video settings in the Graphics Mode dropdown, alongside other rendering modes.
Presets for “Favor Visuals”and “Favor Performance”are available in Video settings, and visual configurations can be customized under “Vibrant Visuals Options.”
Note that splitscreen mode is unsupported with Vibrant Visuals, defaulting to Fancy or Simple rendering if multiple local players are active. Marketplace Add-Ons, Skins, and Persona items will remain compatible, but currently, Worlds and Texture Packs are incompatible with this new mode.
Known Issues with Vibrant Visuals
- Visual artifacts may appear on specific Android devices, especially those using Mali GPUs.
- Submerged surfaces beyond eight blocks may appear darker than intended.
- Occasional lighting leaks underground or fluctuating shadows near cave entrances.
- Textures might display as pink after suspending and resuming gameplay, navigating to Settings, or exiting worlds.
- Metallic surfaces may exhibit visual inconsistencies in certain scenarios.
- Emissive textures may not illuminate correctly under some conditions.
Players are encouraged to report any issues at bugs.mojang.com and provide feedback at aka.ms/mcvibrantvisualsfeedback.
