Upcoming Visual Album from Miley Cyrus: “Something Beautiful”
Miley Cyrus is set to captivate audiences with her innovative visual album, Something Beautiful, which she promoted with a newly released trailer this past Tuesday. This project accompanies Cyrus’s highly anticipated ninth studio album of the same name, slated for release on May 30.
A Unique Pop Opera Experience
The trailer teases audiences with the promise of “a unique visual experience fueled by fantasy,” labeling the production a “one of a kind pop opera.” In total, 13 tracks from the new album will serve as the soundtrack for this visual journey, which is expected to premiere in June.
Artistic Inspiration and Direction
In a previous interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Cyrus shared insights into the creative direction of Something Beautiful. Her inspiration draws heavily from Pink Floyd’s iconic 1979 album, The Wall. “We really leaned in. And so I have this heart-first attachment to it,” Cyrus remarked, indicating her vision incorporates a modern twist on classic elements. “My idea was making The Wall, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture,” she elaborated.
Production Collaborations
Cyrus is taking an active role in bringing this project to life as a producer alongside directing partners Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walker. The production is backed by major industry players, including Cyrus’s label Columbia Records, Sony Music Vision, Live Nation, and XYZ Films. Key figures involved as executive producers include Columbia’s CEO Ron Perry, Live Nation’s CEO Michael Rapino, and Sony Music executive Tom Mackay, alongside other notable names like Brad Wavra and Ryan Kroft from Live Nation, as well as Adam Folk and Krista Wegener.
Successes and Recent Acclaim
Something Beautiful follows Cyrus’s previous album, Endless Summer Vacation, which marked her first release under Columbia Records in 2023. That album was a resounding success, featuring the global smash hit “Flowers,” which helped her secure her first Grammy wins last year after a decade-long career. She recently added a third Grammy to her accolades for her collaboration with Beyoncé on “II Most Wanted,” recognized as the second-best song of 2024 according to The Hollywood Reporter.
