Exciting News: Madison Hosts SNL After Oscar Win

This week, Mikey Madison, fresh off her Oscar triumph for her portrayal of Ani in Anora, is set to host Saturday Night Live. In a promo for the upcoming episode released on Wednesday, fellow cast member Sarah Sherman introduces an amusing concept from a prior sketch featuring Madison’s character, the “Anora Menorah,”humorously depicted as her in lingerie on top of a Menorah.

A Nod to Cut Sketches

Originally shared during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in January, the sketch itself never made it to air. Upon discovering the mock-up of the Anora Menorah in Sherman’s dressing room, Madison inquired, “Did people find it funny?” The cringe-worthy response came with Sherman nervously claiming, “Yeah, it killed definitely, people were laughing.” However, the footage showed otherwise, leading Sherman to attempt a pitch for yet another idea—the “Anora fedora.”

Madison humorously declined, stating, “Well, you guys will have other ideas, right?”

Honoring the Sex Worker Community

As the recipient of the Academy Award for Best Actress, Madison has gained recognition not only for her talent but also for her advocacy. During her acceptance speech, she took a moment to honor the sex worker community, stating, “I just wanted to recognize and honor the sex worker community. I will continue to support and be an ally. Meeting incredible women from that community has been one of the highlights of this entire experience.”

Looking Ahead: Future Projects

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter following her Oscar win, Madison discussed her aspirations, emphasizing her desire to collaborate with intriguing creatives. “It’s about following a feeling and emotional connection. I have to feel that strong pull toward a project, like, ‘I absolutely have to do it,'” she elaborated. Thanks to her role in Anora, she is contemplating what comes next.

Transitioning from intense roles—such as portraying troubled characters in films like Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and Scream VI—Madison is preparing to explore her comedic side on Saturday night, where she will be joined by musical guest Morgan Wallen.
