Maya Higa, a popular Twitch streamer, made a memorable appearance on the Wine About It podcast alongside fellow streamer Blaire “QTCinderella.”During the episode, Higa shared an entertaining story about her visit to a recent Renaissance Fair, where she humorously described her “arrest,”which was part of the event’s immersive experience rather than an actual encounter with law enforcement.
Renaissance Fairs often feature performers dressed as sheriffs who engage in playful antics, “arresting”attendees for fun. Higa recounted the moment by saying:
“PeachJars (Twitch streamer) paid this guy 40 bucks to arrest me.”
She elaborated on the amusing circumstances surrounding her mock arrest:
“This guy comes up to me and Peach and he’s like, ‘Do I know you?’ so I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know, maybe,’ ’cause I thought he was a viewer and he’s like, ‘Are you Maya?’ ‘Yeah, nice to meet you. You watch Twitch?’ And then he was like, ‘You are under arrest.’ It was so embarrassing.”

Maya Higa’s Humorous Prank Experience at the Renaissance Fair
During her discussion on the podcast, Higa provided additional details about the prank orchestrated by a close friend. She described how the prank escalated, involving handcuffs and a burlap sack placed over her head:
“He put handcuffs on me, and he put a burlap sack over my head that had shame written on it, and then he paraded me through the whole Renaissance fair, past every single vendor, everybody yells shame and points at you. So she had me arrested for drinking a Michelob Ultra (beer), and as I was walking, my skirt fell off. Not like that, I had a skirt underneath my dress.”

As part of the prank, Higa was taken to what they called a mock jail. Surprisingly, she found herself sharing this space with two teenagers:
“They drew a caricature on a wanted poster with the charges and put me in jail, and I was in jail with two teenage boys. They were 16. I was like, ‘What are you guys in for?’ One of them was like ‘Tax evasion,’ and I was like, ‘You don’t even know what that means.’
“And the other one was like, ‘You can think of me as a horny Harry Potter.’ There were iron bars and my head was through the iron bars. I was like, ‘You gotta get me outta here right now.’
Eventually, Higa was released from the mock jail, but not without a challenge. To earn her freedom, she had to perform a lively chicken song in front of the enthusiastic crowd at the Renaissance Fair, adding an extra layer of hilarity to her tale.
