To countless fans around the globe, Mark Hamill is a celebrated figure in cinema. This week in Las Vegas, the renowned actor will receive the prestigious Cinema Icon trophy at the Big Screen Achievement Awards held during CinemaCon.

A Night of Celebration

The award ceremony, taking place on Thursday night at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace, arrives during an exciting year for Hamill, who has three films slated for release in 2025. He will feature in The Long Walk, an adaptation of Stephen King’s inaugural novel, directed by Francis Lawrence, produced by Lionsgate. Following this, he will share the screen with Tom Hiddleston in The Life of Chuck, which earned the TIFF Audience Award in 2024. Another highlight of his upcoming projects includes his role as the Flying Dutchman in Paramount’s The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants.

While Mark Hamill gained fame for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, his extensive filmography showcases a wide range of roles. Notable appearances include his work in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and films like Kingsman: The Secret Service, The Machine, and Brigsby Bear. Moreover, he is recognized for his dramatic voice work in Batman: The Animated Series and video games like Arkham City.

Highlighting Talent at CinemaCon

The closing night of CinemaCon will also honor several other stars, including Glen Powell, Channing Tatum, Lindsay Lohan, Ana de Armas, Cheech & Chong, David Jonsson, Madeleine McGraw, and Ben Wang. This gala, hosted by the event’s official sponsor, the Coca-Cola Company, will be led by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier.
