Lucinda from Married at First Sight: Australia Opens Up About Her Experience on the Show

Lucinda Light Reflects on Her Journey After Married at First Sight: Australia

Lucinda Light, a notable alum from the latest season of Married at First Sight: Australia, recently opened up about her multifaceted experience on the popular reality show. The 44-year-old participated in the 2024 season with hopes of discovering love, but she also had additional aspirations in mind.

In a revealing interview with Herald Sun, published on March 23, 2025, Lucinda admitted that while the idea of finding a romantic connection was appealing, her participation was also motivated by a desire to attract attention to her career as a celebrant, public speaker, and MC.

“I fell into that fantasy they would hook me up. I also did have ulterior motives to get eyes on my celebrant business, so guilty as charged,” she shared candidly.

The Reality of Participation: Challenges and Opportunities

Despite her expectations, Lucinda found the reality of being part of the show quite different from what she had envisioned. In a follow-up chat with The Age in February 2025, she expressed that her time on the series complicated her dating life. “Very few guys would take me on after MAFS,” she reflected, though she remains optimistic about her chances of finding a partner.

Although Lucinda did not establish a lasting romantic relationship with her on-screen match, Timothy Smith, she successfully leveraged the show to boost her career. After reality TV, she embarked on an engaging speaking tour across the UK and Ireland, drawing thousands of attendees. Additionally, she co-hosted a reality series for Channel 4 alongside Vicky Pattison from Geordie Shore and is poised to release her debut book, Shine Your Light, on April 2, 2025.

Insights on Reality TV and Personal Growth

Lucinda admitted to The Age that before joining the show, she had not kept up with its episodes. She described the entire experience as a “crash course in human behavior,” revealing a mix of admiration and skepticism towards reality TV. In her interview with the Herald Sun, she expressed concern over the pressure it places on participants, stating that it “doesn’t uplift” and that “everyone puts their head on a chopping block.”

“If someone was solely looking for love, they could simply use dating apps instead of joining a reality show. You’d have to be mad to go on a show like that,” Lucinda commented.

Post-Show Success and Future Aspirations

Reflecting on her career trajectory post-show, Lucinda expressed her excitement about new opportunities. “The last six weeks have been incredible. I’ve been over in Europe shooting a television show for Channel 4 UK that I absolutely loved. The role they gave me is just so me,” she stated in a conversation with Daily Mail Australia in November 2024.

Her transition from being a reality TV contestant to a public persona has been enriched by several collaborative projects, including a guided tour with Intrepid Travel—a venture designed to help participants disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature.

Focus on Health and Well-being

Despite her burgeoning successes, Lucinda confessed that her hectic schedule had negatively impacted her health. She shared with 9Entertainment, “I have had a couple of health concerns, purely out of busyness and adrenals being a bit run down.” As 2025 unfolds, she plans to prioritize self-care and contemplate a major lifestyle change, expressing interest in relocating to Asia for a more balanced pace of life.

“I’d also like to move to Asia over the winter. Content create, be in the ocean, get super healthy, and just take on a different pace,” she envisioned.

For fans tuning in, Married at First Sight: Australia airs every Sunday at 7 PM and Monday to Wednesday at 7:30 PM on Channel 9 and 9Now.
