St. Katherine’s Church serves as a key location within Wyndham Village in the gaming world of Atomfall. The vicar, McHenry, claims to assist the villagers, but like many characters in the game, he harbors his own hidden agendas. Players will find the church filled with secrets, including a locked chest on the upper floor that conceals an essential item.
To unlock this chest, players will need to acquire the Vicar’s Key. However, persuading Vicar McHenry to relinquish this key isn’t straightforward.
Locating St. Katherine’s Church in Atomfall

Access to Wyndham Village can be achieved from Slatten Dale. Upon entering, engage with the Protocol soldier at the entrance. Proceed to the coordinates 33.0 E, 78.8 N on your map to find St. Katherine’s Church. Once you enter, you will be greeted by a macabre scene: Vicar McHenry and Pamela Shaw standing over the body of Maisie Williams. This moment triggers the St. Katherine’s Church lead, allowing for an investigation into her murder.
After speaking with McHenry, he implores you to keep quiet about Maisie’s demise. While inspecting her body, you’ll discover a letter revealing that she had been probing into Vicar McHenry’s dealings with Morris Wick, the Village Shop owner. For further evidence, you can visit the Brewery Cellar at coordinates 30.5 E, 80.5 N, where additional incriminating letters against Morris are hidden.
Acquiring the Vicar’s Key in Atomfall

Various methods exist for acquiring the Vicar’s Key. While completing the St. Katherine’s Church lead facilitates this process, it is not strictly necessary.
Ways to Obtain the Vicar’s Key
- Confront Morris using the letters found in the Brewery Cellar. You can either threaten to inform Captain Sims about the murder or simply demand he vacate the village. Alternatively, you could choose to eliminate Morris directly. Any of these actions will earn Vicar McHenry’s favor, resulting in him granting you the key during your next conversation.
- Another option is to kill Vicar McHenry outright. You can then loot the Vicar’s Key from his lifeless body without involving Morris or further criminal investigations.
- If you communicate the murder to Captain Sims without harming Vicar McHenry, he will be detained and sent to Skethermoor Prison. Here, you can find his corpse, which will also yield the Vicar’s Key.
Should you choose to let Morris evade punishment for Maisie’s murder, he will reward you with a Crafting Manual that introduces new crafting skills. You can then return to the church and dispatch the vicar to secure his key.
Once in possession of the Vicar’s Key, ascend to the second floor of the church. Here, you will encounter a locked chest that can be accessed using the key. Inside lies an Atomic Battery, a vital artifact necessary for powering sections of The Interchange.
