Wyndham Village stands out as the most civilized area in the vast, chaotic world of Atomfall. Here, you will find shops where bartering is the norm, friendly faces that won’t immediately threaten your life, and a charming church that adds to the village’s allure. However, beneath its quaint exterior lies a series of secrets, particularly one that lurks under the church, locked away in an inaccessible cellar.
Your quest to uncover the mysteries hidden beneath the church begins with locating the elusive key. Fortunately, this important item is not lost to history and can be recovered. The only challenge is that fetching it requires venturing into the shadowy depths of the Interchange facility.
Locating St. Katherine’s Church Cellar

St. Katherine’s Church is situated at the coordinates 33.0 E, 78.8 N in Wyndham Village. It’s rather easy to spot as it lies along the route to the village from Slatten Dale. Upon arrival, you’ll encounter Vicar McHenry and a character named Pamela Shaw, both hovering over a lifeless body. Engaging with them initiates the St. Katherine’s Church side quest, inviting you to investigate the murder.
While the quest is intriguing, your main objective lies in finding the cellar. Look for stairs descending into a space resembling a mausoleum. Here, you’ll discover a wooden door that remains closed. If you inquire with Vicar McHenry, he’ll lament about losing the key long ago, leaving you to ponder its whereabouts.
How to Locate the Church Cellar Key

To obtain the Church Cellar Key, the first step is to restore power to The Interchange—a facility notorious for the experiments that led to the desolation of Atomfall’s quarantine zone. Your task is to gain entry and navigate through to the Central Processor Room. Inside, you will use an item known as an Atomic Battery to energize a console named Bootstrap System Terminal, revitalizing most of The Interchange’s facilities, although certain areas may still require additional power.
Next, you will need to find more Atomic Batteries to restore power across four Data Stores. However, to acquire the Church Cellar Key, you only need to focus on Data Store Charlie. Once you enter this area, proceed to the second level and insert an Atomic Battery into the powering device. After reactivating the Data Store, head to the lower level to access a lock release that leads into an open area directing you to the Medical department, the next key destination in your journey.
Alternatively, it is possible to access the Medical department through Data Store Alpha; however, this route is fraught with blue mist that inflicts an infected status effect. It is advisable to wait until later in the game, once you’ve acquired the recipe for the Strange Tonic, which cures the infection.
Cross the open space towards some yellow double doors, ascend the stairs, and take a left. You’ll discover another lock release that opens up a quarantine shutter. The entrance to the Medical department lies just beyond this barrier but be warned—powerful enemies known as Thralls will roam these corridors.
Fortunately, the Church Cellar Key is conveniently located not far from the entrance. From the reception area, turn right and then right again to find a small alcove illuminated by a lit lantern. Here you’ll find an audio log recorded by Dr. Fisher, detailing another scientist, Dr. Holder, who established a clandestine laboratory beneath St. Katherine’s Church.
Adjacent to this audio log lies the Church Cellar Key, enabling you to return to Wyndham Village and explore the secrets hidden in that mysterious cellar.
