The latest preview for League of Legends patch 25.09 highlights significant upcoming changes aimed not only at enhancing champion balance but also at refining the game’s overall systems. A crucial aspect of this patch is the improvement of the Negative Behavior mechanic, intended to combat intentional losses within matches. The upcoming patch emphasizes addressing Negative Behavior within the community to reduce instances of players intentionally losing games. According to RiotPhroxzon, the goal is to establish a robust foundation for detecting such behavior and ensuring a more enjoyable gaming experience for everyone. He stated,

“We’re expecting this to give us a great foundation to continue to build more detections and crack down on asshats in our games. We’re initially rolling out conservatively to minimize false positives and plan to ramp up after we verify the system is doing what we intend.”

As the inaugural patch of the new ranked season, patch 25.09 will introduce a visually refreshed map featuring a Spirit Blossom theme and a redesigned post-death screen that players can look forward to exploring.

Furthermore, the Feats of Strength system, which was integrated earlier this year, will receive vital enhancements in this update. Developers aim to recalibrate its perceived power to meet player expectations more accurately, responding to community feedback suggesting it could be improved.

Interestingly, the Teleport spell has maintained its dominant presence in both high-rank play and the professional scene, often overshadowing Ignite during both early and late game phases. Thus, developers intend to significantly enhance Ignite’s scaling properties, fostering a more competitive and balanced gameplay environment. However, this will be done with caution to avoid creating an environment where all supports rush to take Ignite, as adjustments will commence from level 6 onward.

The official rollout for League of Legends patch 25.09 is scheduled for April 30, 2025.
